Is there any reason for us to be born like this (other than God or Mother Nature feeling sadistic that day)?

Goddess only knows!!! Ever since recognizing myself as transgender, I've often wondered about what purpose my gender variance has, what is the lesson to be learned from this during my life? Almost 15 years have past since my initial awakening, still no answer :) It's an unfolding process figuring out the best way to be me.

Good one Brought me from out my LONG sleep!

Im going to answer with....
TO TEACH US THE MEANING AND VALUE OF LIFE!
Life is about the journey, The struggle, the road or path you take and where it leads each one of us to. Being born "transgender" should give you a better appreciate of life and what it means to truly live! It also in most cases makes most of us stronger being able at some point in times in our lifes to realize that you live your life for you and not what everone else thinks you should...IN My case I am thankful after 30+ years of feeling sorry for myself, Thinking I was cursed and thinking the world owed me something for making me this way I realized it was a blessing to be me.
From being transgender to becoming HIV+ I have lived snd learned that I am A unique and incredible strong person mentally and my auroa and personna shows this. I am better and stronger for being born this way and have a far beeter preception of what life is and how are world works for being Transgender.....

Or maybe....
He truly does have a sense of humor!!! In that case all I can say is

"Good one GOD!" "You got me!' ;D ;) :D

I am a much stronger and gentler person and I savor every moment of being Jillieann. If I had been born like this I would have never know how wonderful it was to just be me.
I also have 3 children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
They are well worth all the years of pain and depression I have felt.

I think I am like this because of trauma to my brain, both chemical and to lack of oxygen. These things happened because of the troubles surrounding my birth. Why those troubles happened, no idea. Lucky to be alive really.  ;D

Nah, just nearly dead...and then awkward and confused. You wouldn't be able to notice at first glance.

Entropy. That's how biology works.  It makes mistakes all the time.

Or, perhaps we are the drones of our society, carrying some dormant gene gone active.  There are many species in the world that has drones in their midst... like honey bees for example.

I don't believe that this is a result of "divine intervention".  Why would god go out of his way to make a whole class of people so miserable?

I tell my wife that I'm trans because someone up there made a mistake, and to make up for it, they made her trans too (I'm older than she is), so we'd have something in common. It makes us work together well physically... and we understand each other incredibly well.

I haven't come up with much else but that someone messed up, at least on my end. Genetics, hormones in utero, etc etc can all play parts in it... but all I know is I am who I am... and I like me.

Probably no reason in particular. If we were dumb animals, would we even know the difference? Being human, we do know, and once we know, we can be blessed, or we can be cursed. I think I sense that our people are feeling more blessed than cursed these days.

I was born like this so that I could know what it is to be beautiful. I wish I could take you with me.

In another post, I wrote that "our time will come". Now I believe that our time has come. This is our time. There is no reason for us to be born like this, but there is every reason for us to make it our strength.

I am incredibly well, li'l missy. (ever see that SNL episode where GI Joe macks on Barbie? My sister and I used to did that same riff, she was Joe with the 'li'l missy' sound).

Today is the most beautiful day, as was yesterday, the air smells sweet even, all is right in heaven and on earth as the saying goes.

It's some kind of a miracle, all. of. this.

(as per 'fairy impersonator', some dude in Mars, while I was looking at 'stuff' (zebra stripe tights, tres rock 'n roll!) made some remark about 'dudes that pretend to be women', and I was SO tempted to say, "well, just like you pretending to be a human, it's a fake-it-til-you-make-it sorta move, innit?" :-X)

Reason? No reason. Just is. The biotic enterprise is about transformation. Living things are transforming from amoebas to angels and back again, all the time. The transformation begins and is maintained by introducing and maintaining diversity. Transness is one form of that diversity. If there's a reason, the reason is, to keep human beings from becoming static dead-in-live animals that cannot survive long-term in a changing environment. Any kind of difference that doesn't prevent you and your brother from having babies will tend to persist.

I believe that trans people are intersexed. Instead of having the physical effect of ambiguous genitalia we have masculine or feminine behavioral programs installed in female or male bodies. An organisms behavioral patterns are as much a part of it as its body, and thinking and feeling are behaviors.
