Nah midland sucks we have a major oil boom going on right now. all the oil rigs are here. it's hard to find housing so people live in motels. the motel 6 here charges 90 a night. then there is one extended stay that charges 599 a week. the cheapest you can get here is for a one bedroom apartment would be 900 a month. i even tried to get in low income housing and there is  a two year wait. it is ridiculous here.

I just looked up midland roommate situations on craigslist and there are a lot of them that are affordable and claim to allow dogs. Is there any reason you seem to be ignoring the advice of finding a place to share with people? It seems you're focusing on the fact that single occupancy is expensive when there are options readily available.

Being homeless just to keep an animal is foolish. It's unfair to the animal you swore to protect and care for because of the extreme stress of the situation. There are plenty of homes available for healthy, well adjusted dogs and cats and holding onto them is selfish. I can understand it, but it's not abandonment when you've made sure your pet has someone safe, clean, and stable to go.

i'd rather be homeless with her than losing her. if something came down my gf would watch my dog though. she considers it her dog as well.

Sounds like he wouldn't be homeless with the dog - the girlfriend likes it if nothing else?  Also - he said he was saving money before he did anything. I took his statement as an extreme hypothetical to emphasize how much he loves his dog, not an actual plan.

Maybe he just wants to GTFO of Midland, TX along with everything else going on with him.  I don't blame him for that. Armpit of the state.

I dated someone like that and she called herself a monogamous dater. Very odd description for what it is. Basically she was so afraid of rejection that she would be constantly looking for another relationship so she could jump ship while everything was still going good. That way she rarely ever has a bad relationship experience.

Dropping in to see how ur doing, matey.  I've been worried about you and your situation, and wanted to say 'hi'.  If u see this message - let us know how ur doin.....I remember from being in a situation like yours how much energy and thinking go into the situation.

I live in midland, Texas there is no resources here for lgbt members at all. George bush is from here if that tells you anything lol. my gf makes 600 a week, and i make 400 a week. there is no way i can afford a place here. due to the oil boom we have a housing shortage. a one bedroom goes for 1000 a month. and that doesn't include utilities. there is public transit but it only runs once an hour and runs until about 6pm. ima save up, and probably move to a big metro city. I would love to move back to Portland/seattle but would even consider LA.

Ah, I see I hear ya.  Not good.  Yes, that does get across the point - their massive costs of living for low-paid labour.  I've been to LA, a few times, and Portland.  Rained in Portland - surprised?    I loved LA as a visitor, but was the only person I've ever known who does!  Met a woman (from the valley) and as a newbie to the US at the time, with TV pop culture coming to life - I felt like I was transported into another dimension!  Still friends with her, 20 years later.  Love her.

.....I said earlier my ex ****** a whole bunch of my friends, and it really majorly messed with my sense of trust in other human beings.  I got more sensitive to everything and everyone.  And I used to have really big reactions to things that never bothered me.  I felt like a total freak and felt like I was wearing a scar that everyone could see.

I used to go take a walk in my favourite park at night, to scare me (fear was better than what I was feeling) and then sit under a tree, (was summer time) and watch the moon travel through the sky for an hour.  I used to go same time, once a month, and I'd say to myself "find one new thing you figured out" and I'd tally tiny gains I'd made in my head.  That was in 1994, and those moments, looking back, are things I keep with me and that made me strong......
