My gracioius, cismen want to fake their way into women's rooms!

http://blog.timesunion.com/transgender/my-gracioius-cismen-want-to-fake-their-way-into-womens-rooms/1319/Emily Williams makes a cogent plea to not have bathroom safety as the cornerstone of transgender anti-discrimination legislation. She is correct; of course it should not be.
She also rightly implies that the origins of tying bathroom predators to transgender presentation is largely a male concept.
She asks for them to stop using her – female cisgender – to make the argument against transgender anti-discrimination laws. Again, she is spot on.
As she says, "Ignorance breeds fear. It is in the best interests of all people not to let this fear become reflected in our laws, but instead to work for greater awareness and understanding." Nothing to argue with here.
The reemergence of "the bathroom issue," with recent transition reversals and the CA legislature passing a bill that gives bathroom access to transgender people, raises all the false issues once again.
And it highlights the need to take the conversation seriously and provide education.
