OK, so I was not going to post anything in this thread, because frankly I'd say I'm not passible, and I haven't even started HRT or anything. My passible days sans anything where like 30 years ago!

But... I play bass in a classic rock cover band, and every year we play at a club for Halloween and get dressed up. That was last night. This year I decided to reprise my usual type of Halloween costume from years past, i.e., dressing as a girl. I decided to go out on a limb and wear a Japanese sailor school uniform (being that I like Anime and Japanese culture in general). I kept what I was wearing a surprise from the rest of the band. They tease me enough for wearing nail polish and my blue hair. lol But they have gotten used to it. No one even noticed my plucked eyebrows recently, or at least they didn't say anything. Same for my hairless arms, but my ex-wife didn't notice that either until I pointed it out to her. Now she knows the whole story, but I'll save that for another thread.

So.. I ended up starting to get ready way too late, and my nail polish (pink bubble gum with a glitter top coat) took longer than expected, so while I was doing my makeup my ride was waiting downstairs for me! Talk about stress... Plus I have bad eyesight, and even with my magnifying mirror, I couldn't see what I was doing without my glasses. Trying to do your eyes with glasses perched on the end of your nose doesn't work! But even rushing it came out rather well (hard to tell in the photo below). I also forgot my mascara and neglected to bring my makeup bag with me to touchups! Grrrrrrr. And I needed a touchup when I got done unloading our van.

I have to say, that the whole evening was a wonderful experience and ego booster! Not only did I not freak out my bandmates, but the keyboard player told his girlfriend, and me, that I should dress this way all the time! He thought I looked really good. His girlfriend thought so too. She knows I'm trans, but no one else in the band does.

After we started playing two women were dancing in the front and pointing at me and talking to each other. But that was going on all night... Between songs one leans over to me and said "we thought you were a girl but then we heard you talk!" I said "I am a girl" and she said "really?!?" and looked confused  lol. Later they were talking to me and saying how well I carried myself and all my mannerisms were just like a girl. Now here's the thing, I wasn't doing anything different! I was just dressed differently. They were commenting on my bracelets and makeup and asked if I got help, and I said, no I did it all myself. Then I said "do you like my nails?" and turned my hand towards them, and one of them said "did you say it that way that to sound like a woman? Because that's what a woman would say it". I said no... That's just me being me. They were really going on about my whole image and all. I found the whole thing amusing and it made me feel good.

Then a really cute girl said she liked my costume and said at first she thought I was a girl. Then she said "I had to loo twice and three times at you... for a guy in a dress you look really good and have nice legs!"

This continued on all evening. The barmaids didn't know who I was, nor did some other people who come to see the band when I was sitting at a table with them. One of the band member's girlfriend and her daughter, both who know me really well didn't recognize me and thought they got a girl bass player! The daughter posed in a few photos with me. Her mom said "you make a really pretty girl, I hope you don't mind me saying that!" lol. Mind it??  ;D  A number of people I don't know wanted to have photos taken with me.

So many people didn't know it was me until I spoke. The keyboard players girlfriend also said I looked really good dressed that way, and also said she hoped that was okay to say. Funny reaction people have; do I tell the guy dressed like a girl that she's pretty? lol But people did say I was pretty and I thanked them. A guy who comes to see the band all the time also said he didn't think it was me and that my mannerisms were dead on for a girl when I was playing. I heard that so many times along with me having nice legs. Same thing with another couple that comes to see us play every time.

I have to say it was just the most wonderful feeling. :) Now I want to do it again real soon! When I was getting ready I was thinking "wow you make a bad looking woman", and getting really stressed out about my appearance, but after I got dressed I was pretty damn cute, even with my not very lady like nose and chicken lips. lol My eight year old daughter saw me, sans wig and all, and said "Oh my God daddy, you look like a women!" I think it freaked her out a little.

It was a real confidence booster. I realize it was a costume party, so expectations are different, but the fact that people who have seen me many times before had no idea who I was gives me hope. lol  Now if only I had nicer lips...  :-\

Here's a bad bathroom selfie right after I put my wig on:

And another no so great full length shot with my Hello Kitty flu mask. :)  I only wore that for  part of the first set, and then it got too hot.

Thank you! I really did. Helped remove lots of doubts that keep cropping up. I'm not young and cute like you anymore. ;) But I think I make a cool middle aged woman rocker!

You do, nice pix!

Thank you!

I was nervous about posting the pictures, but all of you all too kind. :)

In the other band I play in (an original heavy grunge type of band), the singer (who's band it is and who's like my best friend) knows I'm trans, so I don't think she would mind if I got dressed up for gigs. She already calls me Raven so... It was just so nice to feel like myself for a change. Can't wait to do it again. :)

I've always been rather vain. Or at least I care about my appearance. Especially my hair. lol Getting older hasn't been a lot of fun, but I feel tons better about myself now. :)

I'm also really happy that I'm small. It didn't always work well as a male (gosh there are so many tall women out there!), but it's coming in handy now. :)

My current appearance (still pre-everything, no make-up other than lipstick/gloss):

Obviously I know I don't pass at all yet, but I'd like to think I have at least a reasonable start to eventually passing.
My Skype name is twisted_strings.

If you need someone to talk to, and would like to add me as a contact, send me a contact request on Skype, plus a PM on here telling me your Skype name.  :)

Wow! This thread is such an inspiration for me. I'm finally trying to address to look to match how I feel!
I had thought I was 'the only one on the planet' like this!
You are all wonderful!

I know I wasn't passable, but I used Halloween as a safe way to go out in public for the first time and it was a very positive experience.  I was a preppy school girl and my friend helped me out by going as a goth school girl.  I wish I could have been a little more convincing but I am hopeful that hormones can get me there.  Would love some honest opinions on how I did.

Clean up that face with some laser, and then it'll be looking really good :)

Working on it - I'm about halfway done with electrolysis.  My cheeks have been zapped a bunch and moving into the goatee area now.  Thanks  :)

I did the same thing this past Sat of going out the first time dressed to a halloween party and as you it was very positive experience and even won first place in the contest. Heard some guy in the crowd say, you mean thats a dude, boy did that make me feel good. Fooled many friends also as they didn't even recognized me. But it all came at a cost though, sprained my darn ankle from a pair of 3 inch heels that made me fall getting in my truck, lost my balance on the running board and came down hard on my right foot and snapped off the heel of the shoe. So glad it was the heel that made that snapping sound and not a bone.
Much Love Amy Michelle

Yay for school girls!  :) You look very cute.

I was going to do the standard plaid skirt uniform but then went the anime route.

I had such a great time and was surprised how many women I fooled! I probably fooled the guys too, but only one had the nerve to approach me. lol

went shopping yesterday....  ;D...

It seems that I "pass" with a skirt, I get many "ma'am", few strange looks, I would try
also to pass with trousers... more difficult. I have not started HRT yet.

I look surprised in the photo because in the last days, sometimes, I see a woman
in the mirror... it is really  :o  :o because I know that it is ME, but it's like meeting
your real... self. Maybe it is only suggestion... who knows.

How do you see me?

Marina, you look very female and most passable, most of that is attributable to the way I suspect that you carry yourself judging from your stance in this and in other photos. And your dress mode is very female-conservative at knee length, all very sensible to help you blend into the cis female population nicely.

You look like a lady to me.
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

thank you. Yes, I think that going really "low profile" helps, especially because I live in a small town.

I entered also a church yesterday (a Catholic church!!!) and nobody gave me a second look.
