Kia Ora Sam,
In all honesty, it's really hard to say, I can only speak for myself ... I don't pay much attention to what's down there, however from different doctor's reports,(some being unaware of my past history) it looks authentic.... As far as scaring, feeling and smell goes, due to the type of surgery there's minimal scaring, and all the feelings/sensations are there, but one must also bear in mind 'if one has never had a vagina one cannot have any way of knowing how one/a vagina should 'feel'... Smell was a bit of a problem for a while after the surgery, mind you this was to be expected with mucus/waste discharging after dilation...
Also I'm not sexually active ie I'm asexual, but I do dilate once every four to six weeks for about 10-15 mins-call it a bad habit

A friend had the same type of surgery six months before me, and the results were not the best, she had a number of complications...She ended up going to Thailand to have corrective surgery....
One thing you have to bear in mind, this kind of surgery can be very intrusive, prone to complications, more so than the penile inversion techniques...However if all goes to plan, the results of this surgical technique leaves one with the closes thing to the real thing...
A snippet from Peter Walker Gender Reassignment website.... Regarding the technique...
A vagina is constructed via a laparoscopic operation. Portion of the large bowel, the
ascending colon, is mobilised on its own blood supply down into the position where
the normal female vagina is situated between the bladder and rectumMetta Zenda
