So I'm a trans girl and I would really like to start HRT before I become an adult, but there's one problem in the fact that I intend to keep my, ya know, stuff. I'm going to see a doctor before I do anything, but I want to know right off if I'm capable of doing it in the first place. Any other little facts you can offer will be much appreciated. :)

Kinda not sure your question but i would have to say, yes, no or maybe.

The question can be answered with the help of a professional. There are many degrees of GID with there own treatment paths.

Good luck on what you seek

By "keep my stuff", I'm assuming you're saying you don't plan to have bottom surgery.

There are many non-op women who choose hormones but no surgery. It's a perfectly legitimate way to transition.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Yeah that's right. So it won't like become useless or anything? because that sounds great... I never liked the idea of genital reassignment.

Can't say for sure that it won't become useless.  It most likely will have decreased function. To what extent depends on a lot of things, its pretty much impossible to know for sure.
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

One of the main reasons why I am not likely to go on hormones, and if I do it will be a low dose.

thanks for mentioning that. A low dose sounds very nice, especially since I'm very comfortable with my current body shape and mindset as far as being a girl. A little tweak in the right direction seems perfect if such a level of hrt exists.

If you do a course of estrogen to feminise your appearance and grow breasts you will become sterile.  If you then stop the estrogen the male function 'should' return, but the sterility won't reverse.  In my case I'm very happy that my "boy bits" are completely nonfunctional, but we are at different places on the TG spectrum.  I can't wait to get rid of them, and even if I'm too old to have a relationship I want to know it's possible.

So after I stop I could still use it, but wouldn't be able to have children?

I've been on low dose HRT for a number of years and my pencil has run out of lead. Everyone reacts differently to HRT and YMMV but it's something to be aware of if you plan on doing much "writing" in the future. In my case I'm older and my kids are grown so it didn't matter very much; in fact it's kind of a relief not dealing with "that" issue any longer.

Please talk to a professional therapist and preferably a psychiatrist involved in gender issues.

Going on hormones changes you both physically and mentally. On E you will becomes sterile and you may lose the ability to gain and maintain an erection. This is very variable between people. It is none predictable to what degree it will happen to you.

You will be sterile after about 6 months, again this varies. There are physical changes, the obvious feminization of the body and the more subtle feminization of the of the mindset. Again very variable among individuals.

However you will not be the same as you are before taking hormones.

You change.

If you are accepting of the changes they are wonderful, if you are not, they are a catastrophe.

That is why a good therapist is worth their weight in gold.

I agree all the way with Cindy.  The changes are profound, and very variable from one person to another.  I never saw a gender therapist but if you are not entirely certain about all this you really need to.  The idea there is not to persuade you of anything but to help you explore your future.

Talking to a therapist doesn't commit you to anything.  You can still decide to go ahead with hormones or not.  As you describe yourself as a trans-girl I assume you are already dressing as female - is that right?  Finding some group that welcomes cross dressers is another move that doesn't commit you to anything permanent.
