My experience on hormones

Hey you all,

            I would like to share my experience so far on hormones. (Spiro and Estradiol). I started hormones in may of 2011...I was placed on  spiro and oral estradiol....After 6 months...I didn't notice much...I saw a little change in my nipples..and my face may have gotten very slightly more feminine-not much though. I started electrolysis...I have my face about clear now. I was NOT very masculine at all to start out...However i am middle aged. I am 5'6, 125 pounds. After about 8 months on hormones..i had a few people call me Miss...When this happens it makes you feel so good. But...now after being on hormones 2 years...i don't pass at all.. The hormones stopped working and they really don't do anything for me. I'm being totally honest. At 6 months to 1 year..I had fairly (ok) feminine body..which I saw go away. I'm still small built but the hormones totally stopped working. After 2 years..my face has not changed hardly at all (if any). I am currently on spiro and much higher doses of estradiol orally..and my body acts like its candy. My body does not even sense estrogen is in me. The female hormones honestly..do not work on me..so be forewarned...this may happen to you. I am incredibly depressed over this because I actually passed just as well before hormones as I do now....I sit and stare and am upset inside...I see all the success others have who are much manlier than me...and then see God block me from being happy and enjoying the same success. I have never seen anyone transitioning that did not get any results at all. I am the first! My life is and has been a joke...It seems like God gets a big laugh at persecuting me and all I have done is love god... Not getting results from hormones is impossible my doctor says...but when he sees me..he is like omg..."are you taking any hormones at all?" I look like a freaking male wrestler who is 5'6, 125 pounds. I'm bitter over it and wanted to vent.

Welcome, Kaycie.  Glad you joined up.

I moved your post out of a picture topic to a place all it's own.

Don't be depressed.  Talk to your endo about E1 or E3.  A couple of our members who had difficulty with Estradiol (E2), did better with other variations.

Hey girl! Hormones are a tricky business... While I've been on HRT for a lot less time ( almost at the 6 month point ), they've been giving me grief too. Hormones are certainly not one-size-fits-all, and you know that YMMV. In my case, spiro has stopped working entirely. So there's heaps of E in my system, but a huge amount to T too which dominates, and makes spiro ineffective. So I've just been swapped to Androcur instead. Early indications are good, but will have to wait a couple of months to see what my body does with it long term.

Have a chat with your endo. If your levels are out of whack, there may be other options.
