Just took another step by having the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco prepare the final documents needed for a Name and Gender marker change in my birth certificate and drivers license.  I talked to my wife (JoAnn) on Monday about this and she was understandably very upset that I'm going ahead with the changes.  But she said she'll still be married to Joseph Henry K***i.  After all that's the name on our Marriage License, and she thinks of me in terms of that person.  And really, not much has changed as far as my interests, wants, pleasurable activities, endeavors, and abilities (within the limits of my current strength).  So she's right about that.

So this along with a discussion last week about adding Progesterone to my HRT has caused more tension.  And I told her we have to sit and talk honestly again for many hours when she comes here to visit in October.  And with that I made reservations to fly home to California on the same flight with her in November.  We have a lot to discuss, and our long talks on the phone just don't match the emotional release or honesty we have when sharing the tears, hugs and pain in person.

Each of us still ends every telephone conversation with "I love you." but there's a lot to do, and a big emotional hill for us to climb during the next three months.  Hope I'm prepared for it, and that JoAnn can weather this storm through Christmas when the name change is final.
