Long hair?

So I've been brooding over something today. At the moment I've got quite short hair and I know it helps me pass and so it's made me happy. Even so I know I want to be a longhaired guy, and when I say long I mean legolas-long. Way-past-shoulders-Viking-long. I don't pass with long hair, or better said I cut my hair when I was growing into being a guy and when I tried to grow it out (before acknowledging who I was) I freaked out because I hated how I looked. Like a pretty girl instead of a awesome dude. But now I think I could handle it, I can get male style cuts now and I'm more secure in myself. The only thing I worry about is that I'll probably pass 0% and with starting transition and hopefully going pretty much full time next year I'll just be stuck again with girl with long hair or guy with short hair until testosteron...
Do I really have to wait that long? I went to a fair this weekend and more then 50% of the guys had awesome long hair and I just want it too. Do you guys think I have any chance of passing pre-T with long hair?
(sorry long again, I don't know how to be short I think :p)

Pre-T, you're more unlikely to pass.

And here's why: when boys are around school age, they mostly have short hair. Very few young teenage boys have longer hair because it makes it harder to tell what gender they are. You will occasionally have kids with longer hair but pre-puberty, it's rare. Don't get me wrong, it does indeed happen, but it's not so common. Once those kids go through puberty and have a more male physique with at least hints of facial hair and overall looking taller and older, they can rock long hair with more confidence and better pass rate, although it always should be noted that even then, many will still get misgendered from behind. Right now, you're like a pre-pubescent boy. You don't have facial hair, a man's voice,  perhaps not even tall. If you have long hair now you'll get misgendered the way pre-pubescent kids would if they had long hair.

Does this mean you shouldn't have long hair? Hell no! It's your hair. Do whatever you want! You just need to be sure you're strong enough to be misgendered and be okay with it. That's not something I could personally do but power to anyone who can.

Personally I went with dress and hair to pass over what I ultimately want to have which is longer (but still short, just  not clipper short) hair and more grown up, smarter clothes. The clothes I'll change up to smarter now and again but I know that I look like a young teenage boy so wearing jeans with skate shoes and a graphic shirt makes me pass a lot better than say a suit to use a polar opposite. For me, personally, passing is important and I pass 100% myself. I'm even able to wear smarter clothes already without it looking too odd. But would I rock a long hair style right now? Well 1) I never would because I have more typically girly, wavy hair and 2) I just wouldn't pass and I know it!

^ Ditto.

I'm keeping my hair short until the T does it's job. There's no way I'd pass with it long; I barely pass as it is! Once I look more masculine, I'll consider having it long again because I do enjoy long hair.

This is interesting. I'm G-male and have worn long hair most of life. I've always gotten whistles and "ma'am-ed even when not trying to look feminine at all. It's just a fact of being long haired. I think any long haired male must have a strong sense of self, though, and not really give too much of a bleep about what others think.

Many rock/metal musicians have long hair and pass as male.2 examples that spring to mind are Motorhead's Lemmy and Nightwish bass player Marco Hietala, they have the voices usually heard on a parade ground and impressive facial hair which helps a lot

I don't think long hair is non-passable itself, speaking of myself I used to pass better with long hair than short because with short hair you easly see my soft features in my face.
however the decribtion of long hair is Very long hair where my kind of long hair is normal middle long and I guess it could make it more difficult since it more rare seeing guys with really long hair rather than semi-long but it may also depend on your style or the culture your in what kind of hair the guys around you got.

my hairlenght is usunally around this size

I found this threath some years back who may be usefull.
