Hello Everyone,

My name is Dennis, bet you guessed that.   ::)

I'm 50 and live currently in south Georgia. I've been married twice and have one daughter.

The reason I'm here is pretty simple, I want to learn from all you nice people. In other words, I don't want to make a stupid mistake and offend anyone or misunderstand anything when the answer is available.

I've had a couple of transgendered friends, MTF that were great people. Currently, I'm talking to a couple of very nice TG ladies and really I don't want to, as I said do something stupid or ignorant.

Sooo, I feel the best way to be a good friend is to learn all that I can.

Again, nice to be here

Thanks Melissa for the suggestion, you've been very  :)

It's very refreshing to find this site... I'm afraid no matter what combination of words I used in a Google search 99.99% of the results were just "->-bleeped-<-" porn site... not what I was looking for...

Have a Great Day!

Welcome Dennis,

As Melissa said the WIKI will provide a plenty of information. You should also check out the rules at:

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,2.0.html

It nice to know that you consider your friends worth the research. The best piece of advice that I can give you at the moment is to use the pronouns for their chosen gender and to relax and treat them as people.

Welcome to Susans Dennis,

As the others have said this is a place full of information and warm friendly people. Nice to have a fellow Georgian aboard.Supportive friends are a wonderful thing. Sounds like you are trying to be a good one. I know what you mean about trying to find the right info. When I first started looking for a support site on the net I went through the same problem. Just pages and pages of porn. For a normal TS like the folks you find here sifting thru that stuff was, shall we say, unpleasant.

Anyway, fix yourself a cup of tea or other relaxing beverage, sit down, take your shoes off and set a spell.

Good Journey,

Cassie

Thanks Cassie,

Oh yes, I've bookmarked this as a Favorite Place.  ::)

Alot of great information here, and of course reading the Forum posts I'm finding topics I would have never even thought of. Plus, just getting all the different perspectives....

What part of Georgia are you in, almost in Florida myself. Way south Georgia.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Don't let Dennis rattle you Dennis. There can be more than one, this ain't the Highlander game.  ;D As to what part of Georgia, I'm in the North Georgia Mountains about 10 miles from the Tennessee line. I guess you could say we're at opposite ends of the pole.  Used to live in the Atlanta Metro but got tired of that. I was raised in the mountains and good lord willing this is where they will lay my bones to rest.

Thanks... and you even mentioned Highlander  ;D

Die hard Highlander fan here

Actually I am a Tennessee native, and even then we were at opposites. I'm from West Tennessee, Jackcon to be specific.

Only been a Georgian about 11 months, moved here from Oklahoma.

Nah, I don't rattle easily.  :)

Actaully, I initially did register with a different name, but was asked to change it, so there ya have it.. my name and location.

Anyway, everyone has been sooo vey nice here... so yeah, it is very nice to be here..

West Tennessee! Really? I was raised in Eastern Tennessee. Rhea County then Knox County then Sevier county. Go Vols! Not that I'm a big sports fan but you always have to cheer for the home team. Again welcome to Susan's

LostInTime

Very cool that you are looking into learning more.

An older gentleman that I am friends with now did the same thing when he ran into someone who was TS.  because he took the time to ask questions and do some reading, he and I have rarely discussed anything dealing with the T stuff because there's not a whole lot I could tell him that he does not already know.  :)  Makes the friendships work that much better, IMHO.

Good luck and welcome!

Thanks for your comments LostInTime..

That's pretty much what I thought, if I already had a good handle on things there wouldn't be any need to spend alot of time discussing things that might make them uncomfortable or that they'd answered over and over already previously to others.

My TG friends are very open with me and discuss things when I have a question, but I guess like most anything else I have an interest in, I tend to learn as much from as many sources as I can. And Susan's has been wonderful.

Plus, I get to make some new friends  ;D

I've always been more comfortable with women. Raised in a household with a sister, mother, grand-mother and great-grand-mother. No males until later. Maybe that explains it.

I do like to hang out with the guys at times, but for close "best" friends, I prefer women. Makes no difference whether GG or TG.

I did get to play "dolls" with my older sister, though she was always Barbie and me Ken. And by the same token, I talked her into playing with my army men.

Anyway, I sure appreciate the welcome.

Hi Dennis,

Your posts are very interesting. Your respect for the TG community is wonderful. The fact that you have more than one TG friend is exceptional, considereing that in the general populace we are a rare breed. This all leads me to wonder. You don't have to answer this question if you don't want to, but we are all friends here. Are you TG yourself? On some level, of which there are many which may never come to the surface, from your posts, It seems like you may be on some border line. Is it possible that you may be on that line?
