Hi everyone

Just wondering if there were any Aussies here that had seen Dr Vlahakis in Sydney. I have my first session with him on Friday and am a little nervous and was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about him. And what kind of things he likes to talk about in his first session?

Thx Hugs

I'm in Sydney as well but seeing someone else.
I have a gender therapist appointment shortly myself in the next week or so.

Usually they want to know your history and to get to know you.
They should make it easy to start and you take it from there. They will take notes and ask questions along the way.
Just be prepared to tell them everything, no matter how hard. It took 3 sessions to do this for me due to the large amount of issues but I did mention my GD at the end of the first session. Know what you want help with and yes it is ok to shed some tears as it is very hard to deal with.

Don't stress too much about it but make sure you are prepared as it will be emotionally difficult.
This is one of the hardest steps.

Best of luck
So long and thanks for all the fish

Thx Jen

Soz in advance this is going to be a big reply.
I might be in the same boat, so to speak, I am seeing him mostly so I can sort out some bad mummy issues. She still thinks this is a plea for attention and has said some mean things and I just want to learn a few things to get her to understand, and if not just realise how hurtful she has been. I also have my fingers crossed that he can give me some advise on how I can assure the family that this is defs what I want and not just a phase. Its been a bit hard since i'm in Canberra at Uni while they are in Sydney and only see me twice to three times a year, so I want some strategies before I face them face to face.

Thx heaps for the support honey and hope your next appointment goes well.

Hugs :)
