Holy ->-bleeped-<-... So, to give a little back story, I've been having hair cutting dreams ever since I started growing out my hair. In my dreams, it's always my mother who cuts my hair, usually when I'm asleep. She never actually cut my hair when I was asleep as a child, preferring to bribe or blackmail me into accepting the cut. We used to argue for hours about my hair. My childhood was filled with such wonderful phrases as "You look like a shaggy dog", "I want you to look presentable", and "Only girls have long hair, you don't want to be a girl, do you?" (I am not even kidding...)
Any way, in regards to my dreams, I just had my most disturbing hair dream yet. In the dream I wake up and go to the bathroom. I look in the mirror and my hair has been mangled. Gouges cut out seemingly at random, long strands hanging in a few places, it's a nightmare. (Literally) I start crying and screaming.
"Who did this? Why gods, why would you do this to me?" I run into my mother's office and she's sitting there, smirking. "Did you do this?" I ask her, "Did you ruin my hair?" I grab her shoulders and start shaking her.
"I just don't want you ruining your life. I also fixed your room for you." She says. I run into my room and look. All of my things which could be considered even remotely feminine are gone, my clothes, what little makeup I have, my hygiene products, everything. I run back into her office.
"Why would you do this? Why would you do this to me?"
"You look much better now. Like a proper young man." She starts laughing. It's at this point when the dream starts getting disturbing. I start beating on her, punching and kicking, but nothing seems to affect her. I'm wailing on her, giving her everything I've got, I'm crying and she's laughing. It goes on for a while and then I hear her say, "Not so pretty now, are you?"
That's when I woke up.
My mother has never been anything but supportive of me, yet my dreams always paint her as some kind of monster. I don't know what this means and I'm really freaked out right now. Give a girl a hand? Or maybe just a shoulder?
