Hello, my name is mike (for now). I'm very confused and i'm here for advice. i can't say i remember feeling like i wanted to be a woman at to young of an age, but the earlyest i remember is in my early teen years. I would stay home from school and dress in my moms clothing and put on her make up, but i feel i want more then just to cross dress. I recently came out to my girlfriend who is awsome about it. I told her if she didn't want to be with me because of this that i would understand. She said we'll see what happens, but she would always be there for me. Which is great, but what i don't know is, is it a fetish or something more? Also i was wondering how long after seeing a theropist will he/she prescribe hormones?

Thank you in advance for any answers

Welcome to the forum, Mike. There's loads of information here I'm sure will help you. I started dressing two years ago at age 56. I love it and enjoy it. I hope you will too.

Hi Mike (would you prefer to be called something else?), and welcome to Susans!

Please feel free to browse around the forum, and review the Site Terms of Service and rules to live by

The Standards of Care suggest that you see a therapist for a minimum of three months before they'll consider an HRT letter. But therapists vary, and the SOC is more guideline than law, so you never really know. Mine took like TEN months to give me a letter, which really drove me insane.

Is it a fetish? You'll probably see that many people here ask that for themselves. It's a difficult thing to figure out, as IMHO, testosterone might twist the simple need to be female into a male-ish, sexual kinda thing. Some people say transsexuals and CD/TVs are entirely separate, some say one can evolve into a TS, some say... well there are a lot of opinions out there. All questions you'll eventually have to answer.

The best thing to do is talk over *everything* with your therapist. Be as honest as possible, with both yourself and her.

And feel free to pick our brains here as well ;)

Hey, you're cute! Sorry... couldn't resist ;)

You'd be *amazed* what HRT can do. Check out the What changes to facial appearence does estrogen cause and to what degree? thread ;)

If you still don't like what you see after HRT, there's always FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery). Incredibly expensive, but it can do miracles.

But if you let HRT work on you (give it a year to really start coming into focus), grow out the hair, remove the beard... you'd be shocked I bet at how female you look.

Passing is a funny thing. I've told a friend that it's like people can ONLY think in terms of male/female, a binary system. You're one or the other. So all ya gotta do is make it to 5.1 on that 1-10 scale, and you're female as far as everyone is concerned. Everything after that is just icing on the cake ;)

Hello Mike,
As a child I was just me. I loved going into my parents room to look at all my mother pretty stuff and did try some of her power on a couple of times.
It wasn't until the teen years that I had any idea that I wished I was a woman. So we do have something in common.  :)
I also pushed all of those feelings deep down inside got married had kids and than grandkids before those feelings came back. Oh I did occasional wear some of my wife clothing when she wasn't around but only a couple of times a year.
Sorry getting carried away. :embarrassed:
But it is good to meet you Pamike.
Welcome to Susan's,
Jillieann

Hi Pamike!  Welcome!

I wasn't able to put my predicament into words until I was 20.  It took almost 30 years more to figure out I needed to start making changes.

I have to second what was said about the effects of HRT.  While your mileage may vary, it is often very effective at erasing male characteristics, especially in the younger transwomen.

I'm happy to make your acquaintance and I hope you'll get the support and information you are looking for here at Susan's.
