Pre season, all trades & media had my city of Toronto on paper believing the Blue Jays would be in the World Series. Wow, they blew up, an ugly year, no better than last year. I started watching baseball in the 50's & off and on since, then we got the BJ's. Up to then my fav team was the Brooklyn Dodgers. I still like them. This year the Dodgers & Jays a bit before the All Star game were both doing badly about the same record, but since the two teams went different directions, the Jays have no excuse, they fell apart & Dodgers found their way to winning right to the top of their division with a 10 game lead between first & second. Blue Birds pitcher Dickie said the Jays fans are loyal & deserved better. Darn right. I think they believed the press & thought this year would be a cake walk.
The National League has other teams with a higher number & percentage of games won, could be Atlanta & the Dodgers, Dodgers home & away record of wins & losses is about even, so it doesn't seem to matter about being on the road.
American League, this has been Boston's year, maybe playing Detroit (always respected their coaches).
Bethany, I think you are right, Boston looks like the winning team. Dodgers I would like to see as Champion. Have to see how it all plays out.
I suppose Major League Baseball could say "World Series" when the game expanded to Montreal Expos (since moved to Washington) in 1969 & my home city of Toronto & Toronto Blue Jays 1977. A lot of countries have baseball teams. Cindy has a point, & I agree. Japan has a strong baseball league. Perhaps one day we will have a real World Series, with a play off with the winning team from each country playing.
