Does it matter what time of day I take my hormones?

When I started hormones, I was put on spiro and estradiol pills, my doc told me that it was probablly best to take them in the morning so I wouldn't have to keep running to the bathroom in the middle of the night due to the diuretic effect of the spiro. About three months ago my doctor switched me to cyproterone because the spiro wasn't being effective enough, I just kept on taking my hormones when I woke up because I was in the habit taking them then. A little over a week ago I started taking progesterone which I have been taking in the evenings (but not bedtime, I work graveyards) because that was when I picked up my prescription. Taking the progestrone in the evening led me to wonder two things, 1. if I should be taking the progestrone at the same time as my estrogen and anti-androgens or if it doesn't matter, and 2. I remembered a couple of girls from a trans support group I used to go to saying that they had noticed better effects from taking their estrogen at bedtime, which makes sense to me seeing as the body does most of it's growth and repair when you're asleep. What is everyone's opinion on this? when do you take your hormones? Have you noticed better results from taking them at a certain time?

When you start taking any HRT medicine, your blood stream will gradually build up to your personal "operating level" and things will stay close to that operating level while you are on the medication.  Each medication has its own level as far as your body is concerned, and you do not have just a single day's supply pumping through the system.  The pills do not as a general rule re-inforce each other, as in, the Progesterone and Estradiol will not create super one or the other if taken together.  Likewise, if take at different times, they do not lose potency.  I would check with your pharmacist to see what the manufacturer of the drug says, or if the pharmacist knows of incompatible times due to the non-drug part of the meds.

All my pharmacist has ever said about it is that I should be taking them at more or less the same time every day

Natural hormone levels do peak during certin times of the day.  Testosterone is highest in the morning, and estrogen is highest during the evening hours.  I split my estrogen up into two doses so that I can keep a steady level, my progesterone I take in the morning.

I split my hrt in two daily doses: one in the morning and one at night.  That's what was recommended to me.
