Born Brittany, graduating Britt: Transgender teenage student reveals coming to terms with wanting to be a boy while in high school
Daily Mail Reporter, October 11, 2013, 20:11 EST

A transgender student has revealed his journey which started with him going to high school as a female freshman and ended with him graduating as a male senior.

Britt Couturier, 19, who is studying at University of Maine in Farmington enjoys a full life of arts and sports surrounded by friends and family that he describes as 'supportive and amazing'.

But life was not always so happy for the female-to-male transgender student, who spent high school battling with who he truly was.

Britt started life as Brittany Helene Couturier and tried to live as a female despite feeling that it was wrong.

Britt shared his story with Seacoastonline.com, in the hope of helping other young people struggling with gender identity crisis.

He decided to speak out about his journey to reassure others that life does get better from those early, often painful, choices. He wants to send the message to others that they should always love themselves and never give up on who they truly are.
