Let's all take a moment to honor Devlyn Marie who has given a lot of herself to this site! Devlyn is retiring from moderation duties now but I hope she will stay so we may enjoy her humor and dedication for a long time. Thanks Dev for your service!
Nero was the Forum Admin here at Susan's Place for several years up to the time of his death.

Dear Devlyn,

First, let me say that I hope this was a decision that you reached on your own volition after deep consideration.  If this is your choice, then I will stand by your decision.

Secondly, I would like to thank you for everything you have done.  Most will talk about your service here as a moderator, which is obvious and meaningful, but I would like to focus on two personal memories I have of you.

There was a time when I doubted my ability to remain a positive force on this site.  Many might think I was being silly or just complaining.  Whatever the case was, you saw that I was in need of help and reached out.  Not everything is public and for other people's eyes, but your positive messages and reinforcement truly meant something.  I'm never one to believe in myself, so what you said to me did mean a lot.  You always had you eye on me and for that I'm grateful.

The other memory I have of you was a recent event.  Without intending to do so, you taught me a valuable lesson.  Through your words and kind pms, you gave me an unintended lesson that I needed to have.  What that lesson was will remain private, but I want you to know that you had a positive impact one me.  Even though it may sound silly that something so miniscule could be profound, I truly believe your lesson will help me grow and become a better person both on this site and in life.  That's a gift which I will always appreciate.

I'm really sad to see you go.  I may have never met you in person, and our interactions on this site may have been terse, but you are a meaningful member to me.  Some may think I'm crazy for saying these things, but I do see this as a family.  I really do.  You all were here for me when I needed you and we all try to do the same for others.  Remember, families go through many thing together: we cry, we laugh, we fight, we understand and show compassion, we teach and guide, and we grow together.  No matter the reasoning for this decision, please remember that there are people here who see you as family and no amount of infighting or grief can destroy that bond.   With that in mind, I really hope you stay and remain.

Thanks everyone, for letting me get to know you, and for allowing me to help the site and the community. As many of you know, my moderation frequently consisted of a message asking you to edit yourself. In that respect, we are all moderators. We can all do our part to keep the site safe, comfortable, and supportive. Always take a moment to consider if your words will hurt someone else. You can always post your unvarnished opinions on a discussion site, but here we specialize in support.

I'll be sticking around, there is lots to be done here, even if you're not a Staff member. I don't mind answering the same questions every day, I don't mind supplying the same Wiki links every day. Signing up here and making that first post is a major step for many people. Having someone take your hand and welcome you here can make a major difference in someone's life.

Hugs, Devlyn

That's great!  You're making me a happy panda!  For a second I thought I was going to have to hunt you down, and you know how I feel about hunting, lol.  Glad you are still here. :)

Thanks Devlyn, I have great admiration for the work you and other moderators do to insure that this site really is about support. As the person I first exchanged with here, you however have a very special place for me and I'm very glad to know you are sticking around.

Donna, I remember it very well, you emailed me about a thread posted here. A simple request blossomed into friendship.

Sephirah, I have done little for this site compared to you. Without your wisdom, many of us would be lost.
