So all over these boards you hear so many different opinions on things its hard to know what to believe. This seems to be especially true with the Laser vs Electrolysis debate. So far i have herd laser will only reduce hair growth, laser will do the same as electrolysis, and the ONLY way to totally stop facial hair growth is electrolysis.

Sadly this confusing debate even happens off the boards and even with the professionals who perform these procedures daily. The people who do electrolysis say its the only option for total hair removal. While the laser community is split 50/50 on reduction vs total removal.

Jump forward a little and there are now at home devices claiming total hair removal, mostly Tria and No No. No no we all know has been debunked so many times im shocked they are still in business. Then there is the Tria. Most love it and swear by it. Some say its pointless to buy cuz it does nothing.

In the end im throwing this all out there so yall know what i already know before getting to my actual question, which is, can laser really provide 100% clear hair free skin now that the technology has improved by leaps and bounds, and if yes is it possible with the Tria at home system, or should i save my money for the older way of doing things known as electrolysis?

Thanks everyone.
Kari.

Let me see if I can clear this up for you. Laser is permanent hair loss for effected hairs. I.E. every color but blonde and white hairs. However it is also depended on your skin color as well. Best results with laser will be pale white skin with black hair. It is also depending on what laser the place you are going to uses. They are not all usinng the same one. So far I have had 5 laser sessions on my face and almost all my dark hair is gone. I still have a fair amout of blonde hair that only electro will take care of. Electro is still the only permanent hair removall for all skn types and hair color. If your wondering, I went to "Beautology" you ca google them. They are the top rated laser place I my area for about 10 years.

As for the comercial products I have no idea. No experiece with them.

Completely agree with Olivia Anne.  I've actually had a year and a half of electrolysis (one session a week) and laser.  The electrolysis was the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life and it was insanely expensive (about $70 a week).  It kept me clear but because of a scheduling snafu where I her timeslots were filled by her receptionist and didn't have room for me, I had to go two months without electrolysis.  My hair ALL came back and it felt like I wasted thousands of dollars and tons of time.  I was extremely distraught, and my gender therapist told me that her clients had been having success with laser, and asked me to consider it.

After my 7th or 8th treatment, my facial hair is almost completely cleared, and any remaining hair takes weeks to grow back.  And I've only spent 700-800 on laser thus far, and it was much less time consuming, and SIGNIFICANTLY less painful than electrolysis.

I think that if I had stuck with electrolysis for several more years, that I would have gotten a similar result, but I'm extremely happy with the results for the relatively minimal effort I've put into laser thus far.

Knowing what I know now from personal experience, if I had to do it all over again, I would not have bothered with electrolysis and would have tried laser first.  If it grew back, I would just get a yearly touch-up.  I would also consider laser as my primary removal tool, and electrolysis to take care of the stray remaining hairs that laser couldn't remove.  I also have a Tria, and I'll likely just use that if any stray hairs grow back in the future.

This is assuming that you are a good candidate for laser.  If you have blond, red, or grey hairs, then electrolysis will probably work out better for you.
