hi all, just joined the forum today so I can help and understand more. hope you don't mind me asking a question straight off. I have been with my fiancé (mtf) for over a year now and I am deeply in love with her and have tried to understand and help her in her life. the one thing that has disturbed me throughout has been her use of female hormones. she uses Proluton Depot 250ml injections(not sure how much she takes at a time) and hormone pills. The problem is that she seems to have quite a bad reaction to the injection. She becomes irritable, sore and weak in her body and arm, tired, and her mood really dips a lot It can be very extreme. What I would like to ask for is general advice on how I could help her, any tips on using the hormones shes on, are there other products she could try that would not have such a effect on her? I really worry for her and her health and she seems to try and get through it by ignoring the symptoms and doesn't really talk too much about the whole hormone thing. I think she sees it as being part of what she must endure but there must be something she or I can do to help ?? I am a bit at a loss! any advice would be gratefully received, thanks.

Hi Boo

Welcome.

Sounds to me like she is self medicating but if not she needs to discuss it with her endo ASAP as they should be able to assist.
Perhaps you might want to go as well to mention these symptoms you mentioned. Tests can be done to check levels etc.

It is very important. If she is self medicating then need to see a doctor as soon as possible and get on a monitored regime.

Also please don't mention doses here, one of the rules.

Thank you for your advice and the warning about content of posts. I will take it all on board and try and discuss it more with her. I am very worried about her and any advice helps me and hopefully her. Thank you so much!

No drama.

I've just started myself so know all about the changes the body goes through.
My endo started me on a very mild dose so he can check out how my body is responding at the next follow up with blood work.

This is important as every one reacts differently to all kinds of medication but HRT is not one to mess with lightly.

Anyway glad to help and I am sure others will provide some feedback, but we are not doctors that's why it is so important to see one about this.

Hugs
