Transgender rights 'must be protected in new legislation'
October 23rd,

Transgender advocacy groups says a new Bill which aims to give them full legal recognition must protect their right to marry.
The Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) is one of the organisations before an Oireachtas Committee today - to discuss the provisions of the Gender Recognition Bill. The Bill was published in July to allow transgender people have their acquired genders acknowledged by the State. As it stands, it will not apply to transgender people already in a marriage or civil partnership.

TENI spokesperson Boden Giambrone says that's not fair.
