Hey All,

The link below will take you to a radio piece I listened to this morning:

http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/episode/2013/10/29/should-gender-be-included-on-govt-id-family-of-transgender-10-year-old-says-no/

Harriet Cunningham is ten years old and has been living as a girl since the age of two. For a variety of reasons, she is frustrated (to put it lightly) at the fact gender is included on government issued birth certificates and wants this practice to stop.

The piece features her grandmother and lawyer. Most inspiring to me, however, is listening to this young person herself. She speaks to her situation with such awareness and grace, I really was bowled over. What a great way to start the day! I have another hero in my life!

'Though it is the nature of mind to create and delineate forms, and though forms are never perfectly consonant with reality, still there is a crucial difference between a form which closes off experience and a form which evokes and opens it.'
