You guys are awesome! Most of the time, I know I'll be alright. And I will. Day by day, I'm getting more confident with the idea of taking hormones and growing into a woman.
Tao Raven, if you ever come to Philly, I can take you to some rad spots. Philly's coming up right now in a huge way. FDR has become this massive behemoth of a skatepark. It'll turn you into a grown-up skater. And now we have the amazing new plaza at the Art Museum, too. (That's the Rocky Steps, for all you non-Philadelphians) The plaza's called Paine's Park, and it's the first of its kind in the world. It's not a "skatepark," but an awesome city park that happens to be skate-friendly. There are also pocket skateparks and renegade DIY spots throughout the city.
Alexander, go to your local skateshop. By local, I mean non-mall, non-Zumiez skateshop. Go to the kind of skateshop that's deeply involved with its local skaters. Walk in and tell 'em you're brand new. They'll be so, so happy to help you out. In my opinion, though, just look through the decks, trucks, and wheels, and pick whatever looks cool. The difference in quality is so subtle that none of it will matter to you yet. What does matter, is that your gear gets you psyched to skate. Maybe even paint your board or your griptape -- but only if you want to! Ride whatever stokes your fire, but beware of longboarding, for it is a false god.
I love you all.
