did i just pass in a dress?

i don't know how much sense this would make since you don't have an idea about our school uniforms. but i'm too thrilled not to share it.
i was in a bus, coming home from school in the school uniform which is a white dress with a tie. the bus was pretty crowded and i was standing close to the back door, which is an area usually occupied by boys. i've always felt good staying in that area, so today too the place was full of boys and i was the only 'girl' around there.
things were going nice and calm, until somebody heaved on my shoulder from behind. i turned my head slightly to find that a boy was holding on to my shoulder as he had nowhere else to hold on to. he was doing so thinking i was a fellow guy. i was excited at being perceived as a guy, but was nervous as to what the rest of the bus might think and what that boy would think if he found out. he took the hand away after sometime anyway but left me wondering. do i pass THAT well from behind for people to not notice the most obvious fact such as a dress?

Reminds me that I've got a (presumably) cisfemale friend who was mistaken for a guy on a first day of school while she was wearing a dress. Suppose some of us pass better than others, purposefully or not.

rereading the post i'm thinking it sounds like a boast. maybe i didnt word it that well. i'm actually confused and excited over this incident and i wanted to say it to somebody. this is not the first time i was taken for a guy from behind. but in earlier times i was dressed in male clothing so it was fair. but yesterday the only way i could've been seen as a guy was that i have short hair. but there are plenty of schoolgirls with hair as short as me. if that guy had the slightest doubt about my gender he could've noticed that below waist it was not a trouser. my earrings were obvious, and since the dress is white my vest, which is female and has some frills along the edges was showing through. he could've even noticed the damned bra straps below that. but he just took me as a fellow guy in first glance. i'm thinking why. maybe it's my shoulders, that i consider to be kinda wide and square. i don't know. i'm confused and excited.

I think it's awesome that you were read as a guy despite being in feminine clothes, I didn't think it seemed like you were boasting. It's a great feeling to be gendered correctly!

A friend of mine once told me not to worry so much about what others think because people only see what they want to see. So if you view yourself as a guy and carry yourself like one others will view you as a guy too no matter what you're wearing.

I'm glad that you were able to pass, but I am very sorry that people still insist that females wear 'female' clothing. When I was in private school girls were required to either wear shorts or skirts. Even in winter. The boys could wear pants. It was grossly unfair and sexist and even back then, before knowing my gender issues it made me upset.

it's awesome you passed! that used happened to me occasionally when i had to dress more feminine, and sometimes in PE when i didnt get the chance to bind that day because of a dirty binder or whatever. a few cisgirls i was friends with didn't know i was trans half my junior and my entire senior year, and i had to tell them to figure it out.

its kinda nice knowing either people dont pay that much attention or you're just hella manly all that time.
