I don't think the problem was PE itself (being fit is preferable to being a couch potato, esp for kids), but the psychological nonsense...jeez!

If the jocks and cheerleader types actually realized their importance for MOTIVATING and ENCOURAGING all students, not just the "beautiful people", that would be a huge step forward...

But the coaches/teachers in my era (not so much now, I don't think) were big on the tough brutal love...

I don't know...  :(

tell your gym teacher your training for track so you can get out of weights. i have seen that one work before. or you could always go with the old ," i dont life weights because im accident prone and dont want to gain any muscle. you can call my mother about it if you like?" but you have to say mother not father. both of these tent to work. you can also order a fake doctors note off line to back it up  ;)
