A New Jersey waitress and former Marine says she was "offended" after a customer left an anti-gay note on a check in place of a tip because she is a lesbian.

Dayna Morales, a server at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, N.J., said a family dining at the restaurant Wednesday night skipped the tip on their $93.55 bill and scribbled an explanation why.

"It says, 'I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life,'" Morales told ABC News station WABC-TV Thursday.

Morales, who has been waiting tables on and off for 10 years, said she never told the family she was gay when she introduced herself.

"Normal introduction, 'My name is Dayna. I'll be taking care of you.' Right away the mom looked at me and said, 'I thought you were going to say your name was Dan,'" Morales said.

After she served the family their meal without further incident, she discovered the note on the bill. Morales sent a picture of the receipt to the "Have a Gay Day" Facebook page, where it has since elicited more than 2,000 comments.
"I was rather offended, mad," Morales said of the incident. "I didn't know how to react to that. I never thought that would ever happen."

Any excuse to cheap out on a tip you can dream up I suppose!!  For that much, and at this time of year I would be leaving a $25US tip unless I had walked out on the whole bill.
I refuse to have a war of wits with a half armed opponent!!

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

The saddest part is that the server is a former Marine.  I wonder if the bigots were offended that she likely risked her life to defend their sorry asses.

I saw this follow-up article ... fantastic

Dayna Morales, Gay Waitress And Marine Denied Tip, Giving Donations To Wounded Warriors Project

"An openly gay waitress and Marine who was stiffed on a tip because of her "lifestyle" has received an outpouring of support from the public since her story went viral. Now, she wants to pay it forward.

Dayna Morales, a server at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, N.J., made headlines last week when she posted her encounter with homophobia to the "Have A Gay Day" Facebook page. Instead of leaving a tip on a $93.55 bill, a family of diners ridiculed Morales and scrawled an anti-gay note on the receipt, that read: "I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I don't agree with your lifestyle & how you live your life...."

""People have sent me tips from all over the world just to show support. I have had people from Germany to South Africa, Australia to the U.K., San Diego, everywhere," she told CNN, adding that she received around $2,000. "It wasn't for the money. I never planned on this. I just wanted to vent. The purpose was to inform people it wasn't OK."

Now Morales wants to help others by giving a portion of the donations to the Wounded Warrior Project to help injured servicemen and women, according to NJ.com."

Now that is a patriot  :)
