I am about 8 weeks on low dosages of spiro, finestride, and estradiol and the past two or three weeks have been a sloth at home after work. I am not sure if it's the seasonal change, my age catching up to me (I'm 48) or the hormones--or combination thereof. I'm actually okay when I have plans, but when I come home after work, it takes a lot to ply me off my sofa. I am overweight, but am losing weight. It has also been a while since I've been to the gym, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyone else experience a loss of energy following commencement of HRT?

I lost energy, until they adjusted my blood pressure meds. I'm not so sure that is your issue though.

Yes.

When I first went on low dose HRT it was all I could do to pass up an empty couch

Eventually my body adjusted and it wasn't as much of an issue. Just give it some time.

Yes even switching up a regimine can cause energy loss I think.

I just want to sleep all day and all night now whereas before I was quite active.

Im guessing a major drop in testosterone and Prometrium may be the culprits which zapped my energy

Thanks for the info girls! Glad it wasn't anything abnormal.

Pretty quickly after starting Estradiol and Provera, I noticed a dip in my energy. I got really tired a couple hours before I usually would. Now, not so bad but I definitely get more tired than I used to after dinner.

Ashey I think there are a number of reasons to feel a loss of energy when starting HRT and correlation is not causation as we know :)  I found my occasional energy dips had more correlation to my emotional state.  It feels to me there is a real energy requirement to being "out" and dealing with the dramatic and dynamic changes of transition.  It feels like very hard work to me some days and evenings are a common time to feel down.

So I crank up the dance tunes or talk with a friend.  And many days, in contrast, I just feel better visiting with people right here. ;D

My energy loss has been so severe that I'm wondering if a *small* dose of testosterone would help out.
But yes, oddly enough the energy loss on Estradiol before SRS was not too bad,
however, the combination of bed rest after SRS and going back on Estradiol just led to an overall difficulty getting back to normal & a prolonged sort of physical de-conditioning.  Add to all this beta blockers & psychiatric medication and...So, years later, I'm still kinda taking it slowly...
So it seems that Estradiol does cause some loss of energy and that that loss can be exacerbated by other factors.
