There are so many cool artists here, I wanted to make a thread too.

Comic art is kind of my main thing.

Anyway here's some picamatures.
A monster and a girl, design sketches for a short comic I was working on a few months back. I had to stop working on it because the story is about suicide and writing it was making me super depressed. I may try and  go back to it later.

Fanart of Old Woman Josie and her angels, from Welcome to Night Vale. This picture is easily my most popular post on tumblr.

A drawing of one of the main characters in my main comic. His name is Ian and he's a changeling.

A cute demon guy with too many eyes and fingers.

Demon guy again, super off model because I'm a hack and don't make model sheets when I'm supposed to.

That's probably enough pictures for one post, I guess. But I can post more things if people like them.

More you say? Well! I demand to see more! Just kidding :P But your work is awesome, and I'm really liking the original characters I see there. Yes, yes yes! Please? Can I see more? *puppy eye*

I'm really liking the one of Ian, the pose and the wings, it really is a well done piece. Keep up the good work :)

Aw, thanks!

I'll see what else I can scrounge up from my tumblr archive.

More OCs from the webcomic. The taller guy is called Liam and the shorter one is Gabry. They're basically the monster police. I like to draw them half naked and making out/cuddling but I don't get to do it much in the context of the comic itself.

Fanart for the game Thomas Was Alone, which is a super charming puzzle/platforming game about talking rectangles. I anthropomorphized the rectangles.

And some non digital stuff: Fanart of Zacharie from the game OFF.

More Welcome to Night Vale fanart: Cecil this time.

And a half fanart half OC sort of thing. I had someone commission me to draw two of my own characters in the setting of Bioshock Infinite. And I love Bioshock Infinite, so yeah.

And I think that's all I've got right now, unless I start getting into really old stuff or comic pages.

I'm really liking your stuff. Can I perhaps get a link to this webcomic of yours? :)
  •

Kytri

Um, sure.
I had thought at first that it might violate the rule about linking and advertising. But I suppose it would count as a personal website.
Anyhow my primary comic is called This is the Worst Idea You've Ever Had!, but I usually just call it TWIYEH for short. It's a an urban fantasy story about mystery teens in their mid twenties.
You can find it here: http://worstidea.skyscrapersoup.com/

I also do a secondary comic called Sin Pararse and it's kind of a prequel to the other one. A lot of people tell me they like it better, I think because it's more overtly gay. http://sinpararse.skyscrapersoup.com/

Read and book marked.... I demand more pages! x3 Just kidding, I'm liking the plot lines for both. Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Typically I update TWIYEH on monday and wednesday and Sin Pararse on friday. But I'm going to take a few weeks off starting The day before Thanksgiving to kind of relax and draw a bunch of fanart/general illustations. Which is something I like but don't get to do often.

Dude, your stuff is awesome!  I love your style!  The character design for the demon guy is VERY cool!
Make your own kind of music, sing your own special song.
Make your own kind of music, even if nobody else sings along.

Thanks! I'm hoping to use him in a comic at some point, but time constraints have kind of prevented it so far.

Cool! Do you take requests?
Thank you, but I don't take requests, sorry.  Since I'm trying to make art my full time job and sometimes take paid commissions I have a policy of not doing free requests. I just don't have time and I consider it unfair to the people who do pay for my work.

Understandable ;) Funny though, I stumbled upon your comic a few months back and then spent ages trying to remember the name so I could google it, but sadly my brain always fried in the progress. But! Now I bookmarked it, so I will not be loosing it again :P

Kytri

Really? That's awesome.

I've been trying to increase the comic's readership, because like I said, I want to go full time professional, but I'm not so good at advertising my own stuff.
  •

Dalex

I know what you mean. I don't really draw up my own comic, but I do commissions and would love to one day have drawing as a profession and have wanted to draw up my own comic, but I just always seem to chicken out before I start. But, there is one thing I have seen from those I watch is art trades and such, and sometimes because of that, I have stumbled upon a new comic because someone I watch has drawn one of the characters for an art trade.  And many of the times, they put the link to the comic in the description. I suppose you could try that, if there is an artist you like who is up for something like that :) Not sure if this was the best idea, but I have started reading at least two webcomics that way.

Ouch!  That must hurt!

Great stuff.  Great talent.

Yeah, one of these days I want to commission a bunch of artists, hopefully with wildly different styles, do draw some of my characters. I think it would be great for decorating my office area. But I'm leaving my apartment in about six months, probably to buy a place, so I'm planning to wait until after. Also many of the people I want to commission are professionals so their prices are in a fairer range (read: higher) than the average person on DeviantArt. So I need to make sure I have the cash to spare.

If you want to make your own comic the best advice I can give is to just start working on one. Your first comic probably won't be the best, and that's okay. Drawing bad or mediocre comics is how you learn to draw good ones.

Well I can certainly see you making art your profession and source of income. You got a lovely unique style to your drawings and interesting looking characters. :)
And might I say, I really like the monster in the very first one. Something in it just intrigues me.

I always have respect for those who have the skill and patience to make their own comics. I have a bunch of ideas that would work as comics and I'd want to make them but... well, I lack both skill and patience for that. On top of that, I'm a master level procrastinator and I would get nothing done. |D Counting out half-assed one page stupidities.
  •

Kytri

Thanks.

lol the funny thing is that I'm actually super impatient when it comes to drawing. It's the reason I never really got into painting or more detailed realistic art styles. I just can't work on one image for more than a few hours before I get bored.

That works out for comics though since they have to be produced very quickly.
  •

Tossu-sama

Wow, I never thought that impatience would actually work with comics... But it does make sense. :D
Now to get some skillz to start something! ...Or not. I got too much stuff to do already. xD

I'm actually a bit jealous to those who do more simple and cel-shaded stuff... I'd like to do that, too but since I'm doing all my digital coloring with a mouse, it's really difficult. Doing more realistic shading is actually easier that way, wut. @_@
  •

Kytri

Yeah working with a mouse is tough. If you like working digitally it's probably worth investing in a graphics tablet. I have the 10"x6.25" one from Monoprice and I love it.
  •

Tossu-sama

I actually had a tablet but then a bored cat happened and the USB cable got busted. And surprise surprise, guarantee doesn't cover damage by pets. >_> Meh...
And we do have a tablet my fiancé bought but for some reason it doesn't like to cooperate with us. Plus I'm too lazy and impatient to learn to use it. xD
