Carmex works best for me. I feel like I am drowning with all of the water Spiro makes me drink, Yeesh!

Honey with some brown sugar: mix equal parts together and rub on your lips. This will exfoliate and moisturize.

I like Burt's Bees Wax (and some come in colors :) )

I've had a problem with dry lips and chapping my whole life.  Thankfully HRT hasn't made it any worse (yet?).  The one time ever I wore lipstick for an evening out my lips ended up looking and feeling like they were freeze-burned for a week.

I have to repeatedly apply quality lip balm throughout the day to ward of the chapping.  My current favorite is Polysporin Daily Lip Protectant.

so i switched from using my blistex lip balm sticks to the blistex that comes in the jar, and wow did it make a difference, in one day i went from almost cracked and bleeding to almost perfectly moisturized, i read that the sticks have to much wax for our lips

I've always had problems with chapped lips. It gets so bad in the winter I get a big gash across my bottom lip that just won't heal. But I found that if I put on a thick slathering of Burt's Bees lip balm before bed each night I wake up with soft smooth lips. And since I've been doing that I haven't had any serious chapping issues.

I swear by Burt's Bees! I love that stuff! (Also their lemon cuticle cream is amazing! But that's for another thread. :P)

Ah, I hear you, dried cracked lips are not fun to have..

Have you ever tried natural alternatives instead of chapsticks/balms?

I have heard honey and sugar are meant to be a good combination. If you mix a bit of each together and scrub on your lips for 10 seconds and wipe it away with a warm slightly moist towel it should moisturise them naturally, as honey is a natural moisturiser while sugar will exfoliate the without drying your skin out.

Could be something worth trying.

Dry chapped lips can also be helped with increasing the humidity in your environment. A humidifier in your house might help too. It's very dry where we live, so even a jar of water just sitting around in a non-spillable spot can help.

There's a "super" moisturizer that can help, vitamin E. You can get the capsules at the grocery stores and crack those open to spread a little across your lips. My superbalm for burning dry lips has been Nivea's Labello. I have a friend who swears by Aveeno.

Another thing that I've heard of is if you're switching brands. Try to stick with one for at least a couple weeks. Continuous swapping may cause a reaction.

Good luck! Hopefully these help a little!

I bought Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream lip protectorant and it feels like it is working very well to moisturize compared to carmex, but how it feels at the moment of application doesn't really mean that, I suppose.

I want to try the honey and brown sugar suggestion.
I have deduced that I am not wanted here.

I don't know if they still have it, but Walgreen's used to carry a cocoa butter chapstick (it was a yellow chapstick type container) that I found worked really well for making my lips silky smooth.  During the winter, I'd use the cocoa butter indoors and then regular chapstick before going outside.

Get a rough towel or a toothbrush and gently scrub your lips. I like the Coconut Lip Butter from The Body Shop :)

I ride a bicycle year round, and when it gets cold and dry, my lips use crack and split and bleed.  Then I started using Portland bee balm.  Man that stuff works.  It so works.  Just a thin coating is all it takes and it stays put even when riding in a driving rain for an hour!

I used to use lip balm, chapstick, carmex, etc., but what I've found to be the best moisturizer for my lips is good face cream, like Olay; I use it in the morning and in the evening, and it works really well, and it doesn't leave any aftertaste.  Also, from what I've read, you're not suppose to exfoliate your lips.
