Wow, I posted this pre-transition in 2007. I'm exactly 5'5" today. Hmmm, hrt or because I AM OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  hrt I'm sure. Absolutely positively sure. No doubts! Definitely not because I'M OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got out the tape measure and checked to see if I've grown any in the years since I've had a height check.  Well, I've grown about a quarter of an inch.  I am now 5' 4.5".  Still tiny and not a thing to be done for it.  At least I'm easy to cuddle?

6'3" I was 6'4" I wish I could stop growing outwards! I stopped growing at 14 and became the most popular kid in my school year when I could get served to buy alcohol. Being tall put me off changing for a long time but now I love it Amazons rock!

I'm about 5'10", some google researching has told me that is average height for men, and being FAAB, that makes me a pretty happy chap.

I'm still the shortest in my family though, my mum's a wee bit taller than me and although my sister hasn't outgrown me yet, she'll probably hit 6 feet in a couple of years, she's still a young teen after all.

I'm 5ft 7in but often wearing 4" heeled boots.  All my life I was considered a short guy, it irked me.  Now I can be a tall girl, heck yes boots!

around the same height, I thought I was uber tall though, since my family kept telling me I'm a giant (they average around 5'2).

Ok so a lot of you are claiming to have lost height while on HRT. I seem to be having the opposite.
I was 5'5 at 16 years old (17?) when they originally took my picture for my license.
After a few months of hormones my Dr. measured me at "5'6 and 3 quarters."
I measured myself last night at 5'8 !?!?!?!?!
So did I go through a growth spurt? maybe im not measuring properly? I was always the SHORTEST male or female until high school, then I was just shorter than most guys in my highschool, but about average amongst the girls. Weird.

Growth spurts are usually controlled by the human growth hormone.  As long as your growth plates have not fused, you can gain height.  It is not unusual for a 46, XY person to have a growth spurt in their late teens to early 20's.

Of course if you have too much HGH after that, you can develop acromegaly and look like Andre the Giant, or pumpkin-headed Barry Bonds.

I grew an extra inch taller when I was 22, right in the middle of mononucleosis - and got broader too, and all my shirts ripped across the back, à la Hulk. It was exhausting. Plus I needed new shirts. And new trousers, since all my old ones had suddenly become capris .

I can second the growth spurt experiences on HRT!  Nearly three years in I gained an entire inch to my height out of nowhere, whereas before I was solidly 5ft 6in.  Thank you, estrogens~
