I'm not really sure where this belongs, but since there's a new-blog moratorium, this place is about as appropriate as any.

I'm male-assigned with indeterminate gender, but I do feel my body's supposed to be more feminine than it is, and I'm tentatively calling this 70% male / 30% female when forced on the binary scale (but I'll revise this as I go along).  I did find myself at reasonable ease with dresses without identifying as a woman and even while taking a male identity, but looking at myself (naked) in the mirror didn't quite sit right.  After a lot of reflection, I've decided to go on the estrogen (no-AA) path under the care of a medical professional, and after five months of hunting/scheduling/wrangling, I finally got started on what is probably a low dose via monthly injection.  I am posting this log in hopes of helping androgynes and anyone else who is interested in the perspective that comes with hopping on a little E.

I simply intend to post here "as things happen" (and occasionally when they don't) to track my progress.

December 6: I'm driving home, and the first thing I'm concerned with is "how will I know it is working?"  I noticed within half an hour that I had a heightened sense of smell.  An Internet search indicated that pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell coinciding with a boost in estrogen, so it at least sounds like I'm injected with the right thing.

December 8: After male masturbation, I think for the first time ever I "felt" the little bit of liquid continue to seep out afterwards (although just around the tip).  If this sensation comes with estrogen, it makes even more sense why this general area is salvaged for parts in MtF SRS/GAS.

Good start Kaelin!
I did have a pre-SRS consultation once with Marcie Bowers, she said that in spite of some folks not caring to masturbate, it is extremely helpful to keep things functional and sensate if you're planning SRS as the glans Head of the penis) is removed and used to create the clitoris. Cis females have much greater sensation due to a much greater number of nerve endings bundled in the clitoris than does the head of a penis and you will want as much sensation as possible there following SRS as there are no guarantees that the patient will be fully sensate or ever be able to experience orgasm although many can and do. I oped out, but this is exactly what she told me.

Male masturbation since December 8 suggests that the account was sort of a one-time freak thing.  I mean, I think I may have extra sensitivity in the area, but the extent was exaggerated by an unusual "chunkiness" in semen that has since become relatively runny.

I do seem to have fewer spontaneous erections, but I'm still able to get and use them without a struggle, although I'm a little less inclined to seek them.

The skin on my face and upper torso is noticeably drier, so I'm moisturizing that area a little bit more.  I still seem to get about the same amount of acne (not much, but it's not going away with less oil).

I'm definitely getting a little bit of nipple development -- when it's firm, I can definitely tell there is "more" there, but when it's flaccid, I can't tell that any development has occurred.  While I had a slight amount of nipple poking a few days before, I noticed that firmness on Christmas.  I wouldn't say these things are terribly sensitive yet, but I definitely notice when I brush against them.

My next injection should be Friday.  The current "low" dose of E (with nothing else) is probably the way to proceed (I'm a little anxious to keep things moving, but transition takes time, and an androgyne transition is difficult to hit right on the nose).

The desire to masturbate will wane considerably and in time an ejaculation will be more difficult to achieve, the amount of emission becomes must less, thin and watery. Estrogen kills the sperm production so less will be taken up through the vas and hitch a ride on the seminal fluid from the prostate which will also become much less in volume as the prostate atrophies.

HRT promotes a softer but much drier skin, so moisturizing after a bath or shower will become a must. Forearms and lower legs really get dry and itchy without moisturizing. I like coconut oil based moisturizers best. Victoria's Secret stores have some really nice greaseless moisturizers that last all day. I think it's important to use facial moisturizers especially if you still have to shave, and an under eye moisturizer before bed at night will keep that sensitive skin looking youthful. Just my take on things based on personal experience.

Well, the need for moisturizing is kicking in, although my lower arms and legs still haven't needed it.

Last week, topical breast sensitivity (or whatever the thing is for androgyne semi-boobs) is up, yet not serious (but if I'm running, I'm inspired to improve my posture to curtail shirt-on-nipple chafing -- I'll take that as a healthy reminder).  This week, I'm feeling it more under the skin, and now I've noticed pronounced a decent amount of firmness and tenderness *behind* the nipples (which are still only slightly raised) -- I actually experienced something like this to a smaller extent for at least one nipple early in puberty, but I think it only lasted about a week (and it was something my mom said was "normal").  I've been messaging for about the last week, so this extra little discovery definitely has me feeling that things are moving at a pace that is not slow by any means.  I'll be getting my third injection Friday (8 wk mark), and I feel comfortable with maintaining my "low dose" plan.

By the way, my left one's in the "lead."

My facial hair growth seems a little slower... by about a quarter, I'd guess.  It's nothing earth-shattering, but the effect at least seems to exist.

Semen is pretty much normal again, maybe still a shade runny.  Ejaculation is still going pretty well, although like before, there's less going on spontaneously, and the brain is taking more of a role (a perk that just about *any* person could appreciate).

My appetite is a little less than before, although my running endurance is a little less (although I can still walk the distances I'm aiming for).  Hopefully this combination will be alright for my health, although my main concern remains blood pressure (*pops in another Omega-3 pill*).

My overall mood and temperament feel about the same, but I feel less anxious about the process now that I've been going through it for almost two months.  The "goal" is still a long ways off, and I'm not entirely sure where that end point is, but I know I'm moving forward.

Kaelin,
You said, "By the way, my left one's in the "lead."
That's not unusual, my right one has always been predominant. I assumed it was because I'm right handed and that side of me gets more activity. Are you right or left handed?

Kaelin

I'm right-handed, but I think I favor my left side in certain uses of my pectoral muscles.  So, there's that.

Also, if there's anything that gets nipples fussy (besides running), it's going outside when it's cold.  Brr!

Oh yeah, cold is painful on nipples for sure!  ;D
