Why does Dr Brassard not follow the current SOC?

Hey girls I am curious as from what I've learnt it seems Dr Brassard still uses the old v6 HBIGDA instead of the current 2011 v7 for requirements for genital and breast surgery.

Is there a reason for this do you know?
Be yourself regardless of what other may think of you. Tis your life not theirs. :)

The real changes are more on the line of therapy (working with clients), hormone therapy (less gatekeeping) and informed consent in general (which is lacking in the surgery front). The guidelines on genital surgery and breast surgery haven't really changed a lot since v6. Probably the bigger question would be why refer to WPATH as the old name?

edit: I should clarify I mean informed consent not in the popular meaning of "no letters" but by the patient knowing all risks and options including no treatment.

For Bowers it was a matter of what the hospital's Errors and Omissions (malpractice) insurance company wanted before she could do the surgery at that hospital.  Even so, they had a certain degree of flexibility, since my therapist and psychiatrist (m.d.) were part of a group practice, and both signed a single letter. I am now 11 months post op.  I am betting it is close to that for Brassard.

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

I never paid any attention to the SOC. I suppose I am not alone.

Because little has changed?

AMEN! My therapist advertised as using the WPATH SoC's, but then used her personal feelings to stop my HRT because I was not "girly" enough for her to continue the process. She even wrote in my paperwork I suffered from "severe" Gender Dysphoria requiring immediate treatment with HRT and further counseling. Yes, I live in a VERY intolerant part of the U.S. Kind of a double standard if you ask me, yes you need HRT, but I don't think in my opinion you are girly enough to continue. I was only on it for a little over three months for crying out loud and now I am back to square one. And they wonder why we are so angry? Sorry for the mini rant. I don't think anything will ever change for us that much.
