So last night I watched a video on youtube that showed the training of navy Seals. I knew it was hard but I didn't know it was hell. This class started with 80 something men and ended with 17. They literally get the crap beat out of them. Ohhh and did you know that in order for someone to become a Seal they have to complete every step of the process. There is no excuses, there is no half way and I am a seal. It's you finish or your not a seal. If you get hurt your done, you have to do it all over again.
Something dawned on me as I was watching these men subjecting themselves to that hell. I came to realize the ones that passed the training were not like nearly all the people on this planet. As a matter of fact I think if the general public really knew what these guys do they would probably see these men as animals, inhuman, and killers. Otherwise put a lot of negative things.
And then I realized something about these men.
You see these men that are rarer than trans people do what they do with no comments. They don't have activists trying to teach the public how the fact that they are different is normal. They don't try to fight for new rules that make their lives easier. As a matter of fact they just live their lives quietly and do what they do and never ask for any sort of acceptance for the significant deviation from the norm that they are.
In short they own who they are!
So I have to post these questions? Why aren't more trans people like these men in the way they convey themselves to the world? Why cant more trans people just be who they are and not ask for acceptance? Why are so many trans people willing to let themselves be known as different and seen as different when they could otherwise just OWN their lives as any other person on this planet?
I wonder if many trans people realize that if they just did what I have been talking about they would be doing the best form of activism one could ever hope for and they would never even have to open their mouths.
