Hi. I am trying to find out if anyone else has done this? I have a hiatal hernia. Just wearing a bra alone can usually give me breathing problems. I am worried that if I buy a binder, I will waste my money because I won't be able to use it. I also have an Paraumbilical hernia. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? I really want to bind because I have about a 34 C almost D chest. My chest is one of the main reasons that I have trouble passing, but I don't want to injure myself.

I don't have the same issue but I do have problems with binding too tightly. I can't because I have kidney cancer and have had multiple surgeries due to it. I use neoprene waist trimmers you can find cheap at Walmart and most sporting goods stores. Only drawbacks are they don't last too long (but they're cheap around $5) and when you first buy them they smell like rubber so you have to wash them before the first wearing. The good thing about them is you can adjust them since they have a velcro strap you fasten. I haven't been measured in forever but if I had to guess I'm probably a 42 C so if they work for me they *should* work for you.

Thanks for the reply!  Do you think that you could give me a link as to what they look like or on walmart.com?  If they are cheap I will go ahead and buy me one. I have never heard of them before.

They are blue cloth on one side and come in a box. After a few uses, the velcro needs a trim as the neoprene gets longer and narrower. You can use the plain white ones from walgreens too. They don't have the wear out, stretch out issue but they sometimes fold.

If you are already experiencing discomfort wearing a bra, then I would advise you not to use any manner of binder until you speak to your doctor.  The last thing that you want is to develop complications such as a strangulation.
