Saskatchewan is just inherently lonely, isn't it just a desolate wasteland? lol

Hi Autumn, if you're lonely, come over to Calgary for Pride this weekend!
It's almost everything I need.

This is awesome, I never expected to meet some people from where I live on here!  :D I haven't attended one of these yet, however I just worked out a schedule finally at school and now know I can finally come. I will try and go tomorrow if nothing comes up.

just to clarify tomorrow is the "inside out youth group", if you were wanting to go to the "new directions" transgender support group that is on Friday the 19th, its first Sunday and third Friday of every month in case that is what your are talking about Catherine, here's the website i check the schedule on http://www.calgaryoutlink.ca/new-directions-trans-group/

Oh, I didn't know about that one, however I can only go to the inside out one for now. Sorry about that.
  •

Madison (kiara jamie)

no problem, i can only go to the new directions group since im an old fart, i would be interested in how the youth meetings go for you tho, and maybe others would be interested also

If you're an old fart, I think it's time for me to roll into a ditch and throw some dirt on top of myself :)

jesse thats not a very nice thing to say about yourself, i believe your only as old as you act, but if your butt can't fit into a childs car seat then your to old for that lol,

Hi catherine!

I was like you I decided to start with inside out and after sometime of feeling like I was not learning much on what the process was like I decided to give nee directions a try. I suggest you give both a try since inside out is more like a social gathering while new directions is a mix of social and learning the process of transitioning. Good luck with inside out and i hope to see you in new directions! I need more people of my generation as I am constantly missing references :(

Hello Keira!

A little update, I have been trying to find a way to get to the group at all, but my parents strictly forbid it. Since they currently control whether or not I am in psychiatry at all, I have to hold back for a while. Sorry about that. I will try again when I have coaxed them to a point where it is possible.

im sorry to hear that Catherine, i remember the days of being under my parents rule and it is awful for trans people with non-accepting parents, i just never assumed them to accept me and i was probably right in the case with my mother,

i know it is probably gonna sound like sacrilege, but i am so excited for winter, the weather sucks but atleast im not working myself to exhaustion 6 days a week, i have missed so many meetings since work started picking up but i haven't really had any time for my transition anyways since it has been all focus on work

Keira, have you been making the meetings lately? what have i missed?

Keira Rosa

Yea my parents didnt find out i was going to meetings till about a year into it. I hope you are able to convince them. For my parents it was a safety issue. My mom thought everyone who went to the meetings must be mentally unstable since they did not conform to their gender (yea I bitched her out haha). She still thinks this to an extent but I told her to attend a trans family meeting where she met Amy (the trans family and new directions coordinator) and Amy is really amazing and my mom liked her. So now my mom is like as long as Amy is there you can go (not that her permission has stopped me from going before). The meetings just consist of about 12-18 people sitting in a room and discussing how the month went and then you can split of to have your own conversations and questions about the topic.. so no nothing dangerous.

Madison!
Yea you have missed me... but other than that not much meeting wise. I did however get my estrogen prescription last night  :)
How are you?
  •

Madison (kiara jamie)

well congratulations on your estrogen prescription, its an amazing turn, even as slow as it goes, im 14 months in on hrt and i have barely lost my masculine shape since my work is to physically demanding, but ive been well, hopefully i will be able to make the next friday meeting but i never really know

Bump! Anybody still around? Any new Calgary peeps?
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

I just found this thread I'm in Calgary and looking for other calgary people for support I've just recently come out as FTM and struggling to find current information on how transitioning in calgary works ... would be nice to talk to some local people about all this

I don't live in Calgary at the moment, but I used to for several years.  Part of my family is still living there.  I know there is a support group for friends and family of transgender people.  Has anyone heard if it is good or not?  I am trying to get some of my family to go, but they are currently against the idea.
