Oops.  I missed a week.  Apologies for my absence.

Work became intense this past week, over 70 hours, more than 50 of them in a three-day span (+lunches, +travel).  I missed checking in here last week because I was getting ready for what I knew was going to be a busy week.

And so I missed posting that my weekly average weight had dipped below my target of 170lbs.  And now it's back over 171 again.  /sigh

This past week has been a really good week.  There is no change in how I am interacting with my supervisor, my manager, or my colleague after telling them that I am trans*.  A conversation with a manager from the client company ended up with me telling him that I am trans*, him being OK with that, & a continued good work relationship as if nothing had been said.

I also admitted being trans* for the first time in a (semi-)public setting.  I came out as an immigrant, transgender atheist, at an NA meeting in Texas.  I still got over a dozen hugs at the end of the meeting, & one during.

I am the main speaker at my home group this evening for my anniversary.  I intend admitting being trans* there.  This is scarier than Texas - all the people here know me - & I will have to see them all next week, & the week after, & ...)

I really, really, really do need to tell my parents ...

Parents told.

Reaction is mostly gratitude that I have found a way of improving my mental & emotional heatlh, especially no more depression.

They have been observing a marked improvement in my behaviour over the past several months (some since starting Estrodial, a lot since I started Prometrium), and are OK with what I have had to do to get to where I am now because the improvement in me is so obvious.

It is still a bit of a shock to them.  Their first question was to ask my wife if she was OK with this.  They seemed very relieved when she said she was.

Not nearly as much of a hurdle as I thought it was going to be.    :)

I started this thread in a roundabout way, begging for help on losing weight. The first week, on 12/27/2013, I was freaking out because when I'd first started on HRT I weighed 226 lbs. and within a year I'd lost 61 lbs., weighing in at 165 lbs. I couldn't really lose more than a few more lbs. and was stuck between 162-165 till my brother had a liver transplant and was dying. I drove down to see him four times a week and from nerves I got down to 159 lbs in June 2013. Then, after he passed away my weight slowly crept up and I watched my motivation, eating habits and discipline die by the wayside and by December 27th I weighed 182.4. I thought I was on my way, but NOOOOOO!!!! I got down to 192 lbs. and scared to death I was going to reach my former weight or worse. Somehow, (I'm not sure yet how, lol!) I began to lose a little weight. Now it's beginning to fall off and yesterday I weighed 178.8!!!! So I'm back on the Friday Weight thread. Hugs, for luck! Mira
     12/27/2013..........182.4 lbs.
     05/2/2014?..........192.0  lbs.
     06/07/2014..........178.8 lbs.

ones I've been able to live without lying
and the only time I've had since the age of twelve

Welcome back Mira! This thread has become sort of a ritual for some of us. I've only got a few more pounds to go but they've been stubborn and I've plateaued.

Anyway, here's a hug for luck back to ya! :icon_hug:

Welcome back, Miranda  :)

As Ally said, there are a few of us who have made this thread a home of sorts.

I have been keeping a daily record of my weight since January 2013.  I do like that I can post the results here without fear of what might be said.

'Grats on getting to a weight you feel better about.   :icon_hug:

Thanks Kat  :)

Aye.  They do.  I guess I will find out more as I talk with them over the next few days &/or weeks.  But the discussion has definitely started off on the right footing.

I admit that I did make sure to wait until after I not only had a job with a somewhat decent paycheck, but also until after I had told my manager that I am trans* and that that was a non-issue for him.

Speaking at my home group was a good relief.  No more hiding who I am.  Opening up about this seems to be getting easier & easier after each time I open my mouth.  A bit like admitting being an addict back in '97 when I got clean.

Life is good.  :)

Goal 136, maybe.  Must lose tummy fat.

5'9 A cup

2000 cals daily 2 mile walks before breakfast, one up a steep hill.

Started losing weight to transition 18-22 months ago at 172.  Started hormones at 141 a year ago, had lost 30-35 lbs before that at a lb a week.  All about the calorie counts, cutting weight 2 days a week back to back at 1500 cals, binging one day a week at 2500- in the beginning.  Now I stay with the 2000 cal and walking, so I can redistribute the remaining fat effectively.

I have thighs now.  :)

360 (163.3)+  at my highest weight when I found out I was type II. Went to 340 (154.2) from ketosis, then with off and on half-hearted efforts over ~6 years to get to 300 (136.1) on 1/21/2014. That is when I came out to myself and started to care about living again and things became absurdly easier. My daughter attributes it to living honestly, which makes life easier in the ways that matter most.

No work yesterday or today - I took two days off for PTHC.  So I get to post early for once  :)

I told my parents on Sunday morning, & my NA home group on Sunday evening.  I told my supervisor & manager at work (plus a couple of others) a week or two earlier.  My brother & any other friends close to me have known for a while.  That is everyone whom I really wanted to tell personally.  So now I no longer have the worry of being "found out" ... anyone whom I might care about being surprised by the news already knows.  I can physically feel the reduction in stress.  I like it  :)

Oh, and my weight is moving in the right direction again after a week of poor eating habits in Texas last week   :)

I weighed myself yesterday and just forgot to post. It was a nasty rainy day here and I had to be out in it soooooo, it slipped my mind.

Height: 5ft, 5 in. NOTE: I cut January and February's numbers in order to shorten my post a bit.
2/21/2014 120 lb's
2/28/2014 121 lb's.
3/07/2014 119 lb's.
3/14/2014 117 lb's.
3/21/2014 117 lb's.
3/28/2014 On Vacation!
4/02/2014 On Vacation!
4/11/2012 117 lb's
4/18/2014 118 lb's
4/25/2014 117 lb's
5/02/2014 118 lb's
5/09/2014 117 lb's.
5/16/2014 117 lb's
5/23/2014 118 lb's.
5/30/2014 117 lb's.
6/06/2014 117 lb's.
And on Friday 6/13/2014 I weighed 118 lb's.

Uh Oh, going the wrong direction again. Too much sitting around inside because of the rain. I can't wait until this crappy weather passes.

So I'm 6'1"  unfortunately

  05/23/14  -  186 lb  (84.4 kg)
  06/01/14  -  172 lb  (78.1 kg)...............hip: 38"    waist: 29.5"      under'bust': 35"
  06/06/14  -  169 lb  (76.8 kg)...............hip: 38"    waist: 29.0"             "
*06/13/14  -  167 lb  (75.7 kg)...............hip: 38"    waist: 28.5"             "

* I changed the scales I'm using for this week as the first set wasn't very reliable, and I think the new set reads slightly higher, I definitely feel like I lost more than a kg this week, and I've definitely lost 1/2 an inch off the waist :)

my goal weight is approx. 65 kg (143 lb).

So I should be able to start HRT in the next few weeks, I can't wait!!! :) I really hope it helps me loose some muscle, it's all I really have left too lose as far as weight goes, especially on my legs. If I had to describe my current body shape/physique, I would say I would look a lot like the Na'vi from Avatar lol.

-edit, I just realised I've been measuring my hips incorrectly, I was measuring far too high lol.. I'm 38" not a 36". That gives me a hip to waist ratio well in the female range even pre hrt ( I can take a pic to prove it if you want lol), I'm kind of wondering if I might have some sort of underlying endocrine (androgen insensitivity or level) issues.. It will be interesting to see how my initial endo tests come out.

And I forgot to mention, well done ladies!! Some great progress being made by so many, and others who have already done so well, even if they can't lose any more (greedy wee things lol).
All these years, all these memories, there was you. You pull me through time.

Long week with very little food or sleep.  So my numbers for today are likely to rebound over the weekend as I start eating meals again, instead of just snacks.

I hit a couple of small milestones yesterday:
I ventured outside in obviously female attire for the first time.
I spent several hours chatting with a genetic girl who only knew me as Tessa and wasn't able to visualize me as anything other than female.

My head is still spinning.  Not sure if that's from the lack of sleep (<10 hours for the week so far), lack of food (max 2 meals all week), or residual euphoria from how well I felt on my first ever visit to the outdoors as Tessa.

Parents are still talking with me.  This is good.  They really, really do not want to know any "details" about me being trans*, but my mum did make a point of writing an email to tell me how happy they both are that I have found something that seems to have completely cured my depression.  I gotta remember to let them take the same baby-steps that I had to spend years getting through.

Today I made my first ever doc appointment for Tessa.  Every other appointment so far has been for my male alter-ego. It is good to feel so free (in many, many ways).
