The beast lurched, moving back in the proper direction. It was laborious, but progress none the less. Oddly enough, this last month has seen me lose about 8 pounds but everyone is exclaiming how I have lost so much weight and am looking good. ROFL. It's funny how you reach a certain point in your obesity (as I am still in the obese range) that here in America folks can warn you not to lose too much. Heck, I have 25 pounds to go before I am merely "overweight" lol. I like my trend overall still, but I did not think I would face this slow down prior to reaching 200. I will say, the waist has lost inches, and my strength has been noticeably improving recently. Both things I desire, as I do want strength, just not bulk. I know this is how it goes when you reach stages like this, and this is probably healthy to slow down. It just feels a little soon. Could it be a temporary plateau and I can find a more steady loss rate again soon? I really want to be below 200 by November, and this slowing trend is making me sweat a little. OH WAIT! Sweating is good!

Welcome back, Barbie  :)

I see from your photos that you are looking just as great as ever  :)

I stayed between 147 & 150lbs for 15 years (age 16-31), except when I took more exercise than usual, when my weight would go up to 154lbs, & then drop back to 150 again once I stopped exercising as much.  You may be experiencing something similar.

You seem to have found a good balance where you look both thin & healthy.  Congratulations  :)

I did not run for the last 4 consecutive days. I measured again, and it read 73 kg (161 lbs). I do not believe the scale.

Hi girls.  My weight hasn't improved, but at least my mood has.  Still fighting on, and trying to control my apatite, but it's not easy and I LOVE all the fresh fruit that's available now.  Lucky I'm not in California where I'd be eating twice as much fruit at less than half the cost.

Anyway, last December I was 198 lbs.
Today I'm 207 lbs.

Yup, not good.  And by November I want to be about 190 or less, so I have to get to work.

I'll stop in again in three or four months.

  •

LordKAT

I'll race you to that 190, I'm having the same problem and I'm back up to 201, was 197 2 days ago. I wish I knew what the problem is.I can't seem to break the 195 barrier.

I was going to participate in this (going up though on weight), but I think my scale is defective. Weighed myself in the bathroom one moment it said 139lbs. I move it a little and try again just to be sure, okay, now 141lbs. Hmm, okay, lets try this somewhere else. Entryway, still 141lbs. Kitchen 144lbs. Hey, that don't make sense, well okay, being that I'm in the kitchen and weight is highest does kind of make sense...food! But seriously, if this piece of crap scale keeps changing based on where I place it, I can't very well trust it. I'm just going to have to go with instincts here. Will let you'all know if I feel heavier.  ;)

I told my mom, she tried, at first all three places she was the same weight, but then I showed her the differences I was getting, she tried again, she went up 5lbs just as I did while in the kitchen.  :D

Okay, this was fun. But now I don't really know what my true weight is. I'm definitely skinnier than I was 2 months and some ago, lost a lot of fat, no visible ripples down the back of my thighs, but how much!? Urgh! Stupid scale.  >:(

Sometimes Megan, the differences in flooring ie: tile vs. linoleum, or very slightly uneven floors can cause these slight fluctuation in scale readings. You should always weigh yourself in the same place in your home, preferably, on a very flat level solid floor that's not carpeted. Usually, your bathroom floor.

Hope it helps.

Stupid scale.  >:(

As Ally said, most (maybe all?) scales will give different readings depending on the floor surface.  I think it seems to mostly depend on how level the scales are.  Carpet will not produce reliable measurements.  I have my scales sitting on the hardwood floor in my bedroom.  Tiles also work.  Cheap lino works better than expensive lino (less 'give' with cheap lino).

I have also found that my posture seems to affect the readings.  Weight = Mass X Acceleration.  Moving creates a small amount of acceleration, which affects weight (only a little, but enough to notice).  I have found that I need to stand quite still on the scales.  I have also found that I seem to weigh a little more (usually ounces rather than pounds) when I slouch instead of standing straight.  So I stand still & tall, looking straight ahead, and then look down when I think the reading has appeared on the screen (& before it disappears).

I also do not enter in any measurement unless I can get the same measurement twice in a row.  Too many things affect how the scales measures weight.  If I bump it with my foot into a different position on the floor, that can be enough to change my weight (usually up, for some reason).

That's my tuppenny-worth anyway.  [1] Keep the scales in the same place on a hard, level surface.  [2] Stand still & tall when on the scales.

Oh .... & welcome to the thread    ::)

I had actually put a level on the scale last night because I knew it had to do with the floor (still blame the scale though), I could not find any place in our apartment that was flat level floor. Ah, one place I hadn't tried though, our patio. Maybe I should, that's nice hard concrete, could be more accurate.

ALL I GOT TO SAY IS HOT DAMN TO KATHYK!!! I am simply glad you have stopped in and stated you have a goal and are active here still. That makes me smile!

As far as the scale goes, I stick to two rules. 1. Use the same scale and 2. Use it in the same spot. Even with level issues, over the long term with those two rules you are going to have good enough weekly captures to note what needs to be noted accurately enough.

Now on to the self report...

I certainly liked this week's progress and though I still think I am obese enough I should be able to lose five pounds a week and stay healthy and avoid too much skin sag (stretch marks are UNavoidable ugh) I can handle three pounds a week as long as I can maintain that all the way down to the 180 range (yea, I am a big dreamer.) Still hoping to make it to Marine Corps weight for my daughter's wedding. It is still attainable at this pace, but I have little room for error. Wish me luck.

Yes, concrete will be a good surface Megan. I keep mine in my bathroom. I have hard black tiles in there that are nice and level (the only place in my home that is, lol!!). But yes, concrete should give you an accurate and consistent reading/s.

(Rolling averages are a better indicator of progress than single data points.)

I am finally feeling that I have managed to get my weight back to where I was between June & August of last year - my weight has been at or below 170lbs for almost 3 weeks now.  My belly is barely protruding over my belt (which has always been my primary indicator of how much weight I want to lose).  I feel that even that will go within the next couple of pounds   :D

I have added in a few rows of data from last year (as if I wasn't throwing in enough numbers already) to show my progress from Jan-Jun & regress from Aug-Nov.  The minima & maxima are underlined.

My long birthday weekend started early yesterday afternoon & will continue until early Tuesday AM.  I have been promised wife-made Shepherd's Pie, among other treats.  The missus has been telling me again how much better I am to be around since I started HRT, although she is still finding it hard to come to terms with my changing gender.  It has been a needed reminder that her transition & mine do not always move at the same pace.  She usually moves slower because she wants to be back where we started, while I cannot face returning there.  We are talking.  We are taking time for one another.  This marriage is taking quite a bit of work, but the rewards have been (& hopefully will continue to be) very much worth the effort.

While absolutely level is good, as long as the scales is about as level this week as it was last week & will be next week, then the readings will be useful.  The aim is to see our relative progress.  We do not need exact absolute weight measurements for this, just something that is reasonably consistent from one week to the next.

Patio wouldn't work too well for me.  I always weigh myself naked since different clothing affects weight so much.  Hence: bedroom, not livingroom.

Yes, concrete will be a good surface Megan. I keep mine in my bathroom. I have hard black tiles in there that are nice and level (the only place in my home that is, lol!!). But yes, concrete should give you an accurate and consistent reading/s.

Okay, tried it outside on porch. 141lbs in two places, 140 in another, 142 another spot. Okay, close enough.

I'm going to have to figure I'm about 141lbs right now (given I'd already eaten half a turkey sandwich when I decided to weigh in). Tried it again in the bathroom, got 141 as well as 140. Well, one thing I can say, it does appear that I'm gaining weight back again. 4-6lbs in the week since being back on hormones. May not be completely accurate but there is a significant difference from what I was reading weeks prior to getting on the pills when I was 135-137 range weighing in the bathroom. I supposed I'll know my true weight once I go to see the endo, they always check that.

As long as it goes to the right places (boobs & hips) you'll be Okay right? How tall are you Megan? I ask because in your video's you look absolutely stunning! If your like 5-9 ish or so 141 isn't so bad. I'm only 5-5 but also with a reeeeeally thin bone structure. Even at 118 I have a small fat tummy -looks like a small baby bump. If I can lose this last 10 lb's I'm trying to that will go away. It on me is always the last thing to go, I dunno why, lol!

Hey thanks Ally, I was tossing in a PS edit when you posted this, so I hope you catch my loving what you are doing though you sound like you want to lose more but I think things are great staying steady for you. I love you either way!

edit: HOLY RUN ON SENTENCE, guess I can skip cardio today!!! lol
Hi Toni!, Thanks for your compliment. My goal weight is around 107 -108. As I stated above I have a really thin bone structure (tiny wrists and ankles, just thin bones all over, and very small features you can't see in a photo.). Even at 118 I have a little tummy that sticks out making me look like I'm in the early stages of pregnancy. For me, that part is always the last to go -prolly due to my age (I'm 49). I dunno why but no matter what I do, until I lose that last 10 lb's I'll have a small baby bump, so to speak, lol!
