Nice start ashleyfivekay, and I was sailing in a similar ship as you. Just take it slow and steady, as you seem to have and you will keep ticking down. Already over 50 pounds down is awesome!!! That is more than one of those 45 pound plates people grunt to lift in the gym. Very nice work, glad to have you on the weight lost thread motivating and being motivated.

Hi Jaz.  Hope you're joining in with the weight thing.  I was gone for a while and lost track of many of the girls that were on Susan's when I left.  And the newer girls are ... well, ... just new to me.  So Hi, and welcome to the tread.  :)

Right now I weigh 157.4. The turmoil in my present domestic situation seems to have caused me to lose even more weight. With the distress, I have just stopped eating pretty much.

Last January when I weighed in the vicinity of 216 to 217, I set a goal of 155, but I doubted I could get there, and if I did, it would takes years rather than months. I am guessing that at about 6'3 and 1/2", my weight / height ratio is now in the range of a typical super model. Unfortunately, the rest of me isn't up to such lofty standards.

well I guess I might as well jump in here too - prior to starting transitioning I was up to 292 last September - since then I started a long term plan to get down to 195 for surgery - as of now I am down to 248 so I am almost half way there - just another one of life's struggles

be well

Well GREAT progress Jennifer, you obviously know how to do it right. Glad to see another find a reason to be healthier and to live again, more than a few of us here understand that as well.  ;)

I am new to the forums and would like to hang out with the cool kids, Barbie (and all of you) are such motivation!

Just a brief history; I have suffered with my gender my entire life, but at 53 prior life and social conditions always seemed to keep me from my true self. Recently, I have made  the commitment to myself to move ahead in the process (therapist has given the blessing to start as soon as now!), but for entirely selfish reasons want to prepare the vessel for the "true, new me" prior to beginning HRT. At my age I want to do everything I can to finally be the woman I have always desired to be.

To that end, I am beginning the diet to end all diets (although being healthy but solid my entire life)

So: (at 6')

9/12      216
9/19      212
9/26      208

Like I said, Barbie's look is my motivation. Not sure what I need to weigh to present like that, but the initial goal is low 170's mid-January to begin HRT, with something in the low 150's a target. Tons of cardio eliminating weights for the time being.

Ideas for a six foot frame and creating a less muscular male to female persona??

Well, this morning (on a Friday yet), I hit the goal I set when I started my transition, exactly 155. Nine months ago, I weighed 217. A few years back, I peaked at 245.

While the poor lighting in the picture below is not kind to my face, it does show amazingly well what has happened to my body over the last 9 months. Now it is time to add a few curves to finish the job.

This is why I had to learn my hard lesson about the State Fair Food Affair. Gained 2.1 pounds on a relatively okay and healthy week, which does happen. However, when still trying to return to my pre-SFFA weight it is a tad disappointing rather than just water under the bridge. So OF COURSE I eat like a fool then today?!?!?!?  ??? Well, a good bike ride tomorrow and I will start the new week fast on my new bike! WOOT! There, spinning the positive to end the narrative.  Love yah ladies, keep up the motivating work! :-*

Note:  Still have to be careful about what I eat after hernia surgery.  I do seem to be mostly recovering well, and this is still my main focus.

Initially, my target was the simple visual of not seeing my belly protrude over my belt.  Seeing myself look a little gaunt when my weight dropped closer to 160 than 165 has prompted me to reset my target minimum to 165lbs.

(Rolling averages are a better indicator of progress than single data points.)

There was cake.
The cake was not a lie.
I ate some.
And then went back for more.
Oops.

Grrr.  Annoyed with myself for pigging out.  Granted, the gain I managed isn't near Toni's SFFA, but I don't drop weight nearly as fast as Toni can.  I also didn't actually eat that much - no time, I was working too hard.  My gain this week was managed with only 1 meal per day on most days, with porridge for breakfast on 3 days.  Not good.  Especially not good for my health.  Gotta get back to thinking about what I am eating again.

On a more positive note:  I did go out to The Raven last Saturday & had a whole lot of fun with several trans friends.  I also got to show them why my wife forbad me from ever dancing in her presence again after our wedding night ...

Work has gone nuts again.  I am more exhausted now after 43 hours than I was doing 55-58 hours of a slightly different shift.  6am is a much harder start time than 2am, or even 1am.  It is just late enough for me to think it is morning ... but I have to set my alarm for 3am to get to work on time, which is defintely night-time, not morning-time.

Wife is still unbelievably stressed out over her finals.  She is half-way through them.

It is late.  I am going to sleep.

Be well,

Tessa

Went to a wedding this week and didn't find time to exercise on top of eating way too many sweets at the wedding.  Yes, I do lack self-control. :(

I did manage to get back down to where I was, so there is that, just not very happy with myself this week.
