Diversity Thrift is almost finished with its seven-year transformation from a tiny bargain store to a hub for Richmond's gay community.
Last year, the thrift store purchased a 47,000-square-foot building on Sherwood Avenue on Richmond's North Side. The rainbow-hued building, visible from Interstate 95, is 10 times larger than Diversity Thrift's original site on North Boulevard and nearly three times the size of its most recent store on West Cary Street.
