i was just wondering what exactly is going to happen at my court date (march 5th, at 3 o clock) what kind of things will the judge say to me? will they ask why i'm changing my name? i explained to the lady at the desk my situation and thankfully they made me last to go in that day to get my name change, i guess everyone who goes in that day is also getting their name changed, i go by the name latoya and i'm changing my first, middle, and last name to latoya rayne fox. i'm really excited about it, but at the same time, nervous. what exactly will happen though?

It will take about 5 minutes. He will ask about having fulfilled all the requirements and sign some paper and way you go.

You shouldn't have to pay more than the normal replacement fee that would apply to any name change. Why would it be different with changing your full name vs. part of it (I assume that's what you referred to) since either way a new ID has to be printed? What state are you in (I can go search their DMV site and see what they say)?

I took a look at the Maine DMV site, and it looks like the fee for a replacement is $5 regardless of the reason - so apparently your boyfriend is wrong (I figured he was as what he said didn't make sense).
