Anyone ever had a new drain put in post surgery?

So I have to get another drain put in with all the problems I'm having on my right side post surgery.

Anyone ever had a drain put in after the original drains are removed that could give me some feedback on what it was like for you? I'm worried about it perhaps being more painful what with my chest having a lot more feeling now than it did when I first had the drains.  With long hours at work coming up, it would be good to know so I can maybe organise with coordinators to take more breaks at work and not have that look bad on my work ethic.

Not looking forward to working while being unable to shower. My poor colleagues! Lol

Well kind of. I know a guy who, well the drain came out after surgery after he was closed up and all. They put the drain in, he was in Recovery but obviously he was out of it. Then the kind of double wrapped him (this was Dr G so you can only imagine how tight double wrapped might be   ) Anyway, he survived and his results looked well cloned. LOL

But as to your situation, not really. I am sure it won't be pleasant, but thinking you will manage and just be stinky a few days to a week. Might help your situation.

Just figured out what you asked here.
They had to put the drain back in after he was closed up and all. The stitches had pulled out on one side or something. I wasn't actually clear what happened. They didn't completely unbandage him, they pushed the drain back into him and sewed him back up and then added a second set of bandages and then they put the tensor back around him. This is why he was so tightly wrapped.

It wasn't entirely like Jack's situation as the tubes came out more or less, but the holes were obviously still there, so it was pushing it back in essentially, or at least that was my understanding. In Jack's case they would probably use local and put the holes in and then shove the tubing in there (well not shove lol).

The guy is just fine. I saw his post op results, he looks indistinguishable from, well, US. He went back to Ireland.
I'm guessing in Jack's case they are wanting to get more fluid out of it in a more efficient way than using a needle. I would do it, if I were in Jack's situation, but I wouldn't say I'd enjoy it.

Ok, Jay, I think I understand what you mean.  Well, maybe not....are you saying Garramone had to reinsert drains at time of top surgery or at some point after (during), post op appt?

P.S.  You may be a clone in body, but we sure don't have clone brains!  haha

Yes, he had to reinsert one of the drains. I say tube as that is actually what it is. Just a tube into the body where you want to dread. The little bulb is the user interface, and keeping it pushed in creates a vacuum where the fluids will drain out.
I guess we aren't cloned brains. I'm Aspy so I sometimes telegraph my thoughts. Then I wonder why people don't understand what I'm saying.

Yeah, result of the bus eejit.

Don't know when it will happen but I have tighter compression vest with extra stuff added in, and it seems to be helping a bit. Not sure, with how it's looking right now if it's worth a drain anymore but we'll see what happens.
