Hi Everyone, I have just got back from Thailand with my daughter who had SRS there. She is so much happier already despite having found the procedure really, really painful. We returned with a letter from the surgeon explaining what had been done and stating that she will now need to be on hormones for the rest of her life for her health. In my ignorance I assumed that she would now, finally, be able to have hormones properly prescribed and monitored by the NHS.
On our return she saw her GP and requested a hormone prescription. Her GP contacted the GID clinic in Nottingham and was told not to prescribe them. I am flabbergasted, shocked and actually really really angry. To me this seems like a clear case of discrimination because of her gender. If a cissexual man or woman needs hormones for health, say after a hysterectomy or whatever then they would be prescribed.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding this. Does it sound like sexual discrimination? How can I fight it?
