at 8:30 AM I was checking into Mills Peninsula Hospital in San Mateo Calif. An empty stomach and lower GI tract, and nervous as hell. The surgery prep ward nurse came and lead me into a one bed room and had me undress and put on a special gown with warming pockets in it for warm air to circulate on my upper body during surgery, and then let my friends come in for a few minutes. Dr. Bowers came in about 1/2 and hour before the actual surgery was to begin, and gave me one last chance to chicken out. Stuff started about 45 minutes late since Dr. B was called back to her first morning patient (I was #2). The anesthesiologist put a needle into my left arm about 3 inches above my wrist pushed the plunger on a syringe, and ------ at about 4:15 pm, I began dreaming that I was in a car asking my daddy to find a gas station real fast because I had to go to the bathroom REAL BAD. The car pulled over in a garage that I then realized was the surgery recovery room!! What a trip --- I was post.
