starting from my background, i'm still deep inside the closet, and i've never had a relationship with anyone. and i consider myself straight.
my current serious crush sort of started when i was 16 but didn't show itself until last year, since i was flirting around this other girl which i had to give up for several reasons. i think i mentioned before that my friends treat me in a quite manly way, so once there was a joke running around that i had made this new crush pregnant and she was going to sue me. there was a bit of roleplay of divorced husband and wife and we had some good laughs. i bring it up time to time, the roleplay thing i mean, and she never really resisted joking about it. but today she didn't seem so happy. i said i found another song for our situation, and she said i'll have to find a lot more such songs as i'll be singing them forever. it hurt. she also doesn't speak with me very cheerfully like she did earlier. maybe i was flirting too obviously and took me as lesbian. what should i do now?

More likely she is tired of you bringing it up.

This.  A joke like that is funny every once in a while but it can get annoying fast.

so you suggest i shouldn't mention it again? yeah you're right. the joke's been up and running for, say, more than 2yrs. maybe 3. but it was her and another friend who made up the joke in the first place. and i never brought up the pregnancy thing, just the roleplay thing. but is it just that joke which made her all gloomy with me around? or am i imagining things and there's no such change in her? i'm most afraid she is suspecting me as i said in the earlier post. hope things get better. thanks anyways

I'd say after 2-3 years it's run it's course and is best forgotten, even if she is the one that initiated the joke in the beginning.  Some people just don't want to think or talk about certain things from the past, this includes jokes.  Is that the only thing making her gloomy when you are around?  I have no idea and I wouldn't be able to tell unless I was in your friend group and spent time around you both.  Perhaps it is a matter of you flirting too much, especially if she perceives you as female and is straight.

Yes, she may be bored, or even annoyed with the long standing joke.  I would keep things light when you are around her.  Back off a bit if you are flirting.  Let things calm down so that she remained connected.

okay i'll try. crush or not, i don't want to let the friendship go away. the problem is i find it hard to resist sharing when i come up with something funny. but it won't be too hard. as for the flirting, well i never do it intentionally, since i know it's going to get me in trouble. but it just happens, so involuntarily. i'll try and keep it down for sometime and see what happens. thanks guys. btw she and the other friend who made that joke are currently on top of my coming out list, so saving our friendship is more important than looking for relationships right now.

i'm sorry for dragging out an oooold topic, but i need to share my little news and don't think it deserves a thread of its own.
i took your advice and refrained from bringing up that joke. but it turns out that i had only been imagining things as i suspected, or she missed the joke as much as i did.
what happened was that i took some cake to school as it was my birthday yesterday. while her and a bunch of other friends were eating their pieces of cake she suddenly said 'look i'm your wife. you should give me 2 pieces' and laughed. i said 'no hon, i'm taking you out for tea this evening so...' and the other friends started shouting 'what can you do in evening? take her out at night!' 'yeah take her for dinner!' and so on. so i gave in and said i'm taking her out for dinner tonight. (only joking ok, im not taking her for dinner) and we laughed a lot. i love my friends.

HAH thats awesome.  I miss those moments from school (the inside jokes, the always present group of friends, the baked goods =p [even the crushes])

Something tells me its a joke you need to kind of pass the ball back and forth on.  If you've said it twice before anyone else has (but really who can keep track of these things eh?) I'd let it go until someone else brings it up.  (or wait a few months)
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

i'm digging this up again! this girl texted me yesterday saying 'good boy' to me. the story behind it is quite long so i'm not going to explain all that. but, these little silly things make me so happy. wonder how she'd take it if i came out to her.
