Welcome Danniella!

Loved your post!! Like yourself, I'm a trans and a nerd. It's a great combination - it keeps people guessing. Hand building computers, Linux OS and World of Warcraft are nerdy passions of mine. If you ever get the urge to visit Azeroth let me know and I'll join you.

Stay sexy,

Danielle

Yay! Nerds! ^^ Just got back into WoW last month, I missed out most of Panderia on launch, now rolling through the leveling content with a friend to try and get all our chars prepped for Warlords of Draenor...I wonder if that made ANY sense to the others reading this ^^#

Oh God .. so funny!  :D

I froze my account about 6 months ago when I decided that I'd played MoP to death. I've played that crazy game on-and-off for about 10 years (I caught it just out of beta in 2004). I'm getting ready for WoD too. In March I'm going to be teaching a class on how to build a gaming PC. Right now I'm using an older Linux PC - I needed my Windows machine for work so I haven't gamed in a while. I've got my students all excited for Wildstar but as soon as my new Windows machine is built I'll do WoW again too. I'm laughing to myself thinking about what you and I would do in Azeroth ... we'd add a twist for sure. Never have I thought of gaming enfemme but I'm giggling at the idea of doing it.

Email if you like Danniella. I'll give you my vent info and well chat. I can give you tips on MoP if nothing else.

Stay sexy...

When I think back to the days of vanilla, wow, it has come a long way. God I loved that endless grinding in STV for a mount!
Every time I read a wow post I have that itching feeling come back. Maybe I'll resubscribe. Just for a month... Just for a few runs...
Oh god, I don't know how I managed to stop. I do know that if I did start again I'd be back on 24/7.

MUST. STAY. STRONG. RESIST!

Phew! That was close!

LOL, I just reread the second sentence and that might come off a little suss to the untrained in wow. Oh well! Grinding for a mount, that would make a great profile description... :)

Yeah...I keep boomeranging back to WoW. The gaps between my subscriptions are becoming longer though, last time I played was around 2 years ago now! I'm pretty psyched for Wildstar as well though...I'm keeping a close eye on the development and strongly considering picking it up shortly after launch...although I cannot have two subscription based MMOs in my life at once...I need to at least retain a pretence of a real life outside the digital realm ^^#

I've always played female characters in all games that give me the option though, but that was a big part of my denial growing up, living vicariously through literature and games/tabletop RPGs etc (should really have twigged earlier that "Hey! Why do you only feel comfortable when playing all these female characters...or reading fiction from a female PoV?")...denial is a powerful thing!

I joined not long before the Burning Crusade came out, so the closest I got was grinding daily quests for my Nether Drake...that took a while, so many of the quests were bugged >.>

It's a shame I'm on the European servers, otherwise we could have all got together some time for some gaming...my tanking skills have 2 years of rust I am just beginning to get rid of ^^

Hey and welcome to the fun. I am also living in scotland, but I am not from here originally. Lets just stick with NY.

Good to see you and hope to hear more about your fun with Sandyford and like the like.

Btw, I am on a break from WOW, but will probably head back with the new expac. I tend to go back with the new ones and then leave when I get bored again
I dunno... I was normal, throughout my life, until I turned 4 and realised that I shouldn't be called a he.

Danniella,
Missed your intro for some reason, guess we've connected just fine by now though, welcome to the family anyway girlfriend! It was a charming bullet point run down of who you are, you seem quite normal and friendly with a great sense of humor, so sorry about the loss of your sweetheart but many here can relate.  I have a 90 year old Scottish lady living next door, I love the accent!

Sweetie maybe you could benefit from some of my ADHD medication. :D LOL JK

I am so lucky to be where I am! :)

Ha! I am glad you did this Shantel, as this intro is one of many further back that I haven't read since arriving later, and it cracked me up sideways.

Hi Danniella, your first post was both amusing and informative. I was puzzled by the second bullet point and burst out laughing when I reached the third, though as a Scot I resent the implication that we're all pasty white and, wait a second....
I think more people should introduce themselves in this manner :)

On the subject of Miracle Gro can I just say that I for one look forward to spectating on your future battles with the Dark Knight.

Nerdy things aye? Have you ever run the Dresden Files RPG using the Fate system? If so did you enjoy it? I really want to play it (an objective observer might comment that I am slightly obsessed with the subject matter).
Some friends and I have (just) started a game using the unofficial Mass Effect D6 rules during the Geth assault on the citadel in Mass Effect One.
So far it's going great we have a Salarian Transvestite with a fixation on firepower, a disarmed C-sec officer with "The Chief" on his ass for excessive force and a paranoid Asari medic who's hiding from her renegade Eclipse crew XD
It's my animation student friends first time DMing so it's all going very smoothly without long pauses or confusion as we have to hunt through the pdf to work out the rules :)

I followed your posts about WoW though I haven't played since my friends from school lost interest. I think I got as far as a 73 Troll Shaman but I dropped out before Cataclysm was released.
I recently Tried my hand at GW2 but found I'm not a fan of it's temporary content. I think it makes the game less accessible to new players and they could have spent that time on improving equipment or expanding the world.

If it's alright with you I would like to PM you and ask about your experience with beginning HRT in Scotland, I'm still waiting on my first appointment for a psychological assessment, The NHS is not known for its haste :(
I refuse to live in fear! Come hell or high water I will not back down! I will live my life!
But you have no life.
Ha. Even that won't stop me.

I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right.

Yeeeeees, we charm you with our lovely polite 90 year old ladies that we scatter around the globe...They charm you with their lilting tones and sweet ways...they make you want to visit the lands of bonny Scotland...and then -WHAM!- it's all "OI YOU! GONNA GIE US A FIVER OR I'LL KNOCK YER TEEF IN YA @#+&"

It's really the only way our tourism works...

I have perfectly good attention span...I just seem to have a bad habit of focusing on the wrong things...or inconsequential things...Like "Why is it that people put eggs in the fridge?...I mean...they don't NEED to be refrigerated....you don't pick them up in the fridge isle...is it just social programming? Is it because all the fridge manufacturers need to justify those weird crappy shelves they put on the fridge doors? I mean who are they trying to kid!?"

Wait...what were we talking about? o.O

I have a burning desire to play out the "Goodfellas" "Do you think I'm Funny!?" monologue...but I feel I could not appropriately portray the correct tone of ironic incredulity required for it via the medium of text...so instead I shall use the finely crafted and extensively tested method of expressing pleasure at another person's comment...

LOL!

I'm a frikking genius...

Sounds like some fun stuff. I'm a GM for my gaming group (mostly gents I met during my Game Design course at Uni) so I generally have a number of games on the go...currently I have...

1: A Dark Heresy campaign I GM that has been running for over a year now, 6 players, great fun and I get to do lots of cruel things with them and make them all paranoid about each other (each player always has a hidden agenda...lots of spying and backstabbing, I love it)

2: An Elder Scrolls RPG that is just starting using an Unofficial TES ruleset using a percentile D100 system, we are starting off in Skyrim as it is what most of the group are familiar with. 5 players, one is playing a specific sub species of Khajhit that is essentially a telepathic housecat...I expect great things from them.

3: I also run a number of One-shot sessions in various homebrew settings I have conjured up over the years. We currently use the Savage Worlds ruleset for them...because I absolutely love it's simplicity and how you can build upon it.

4: I am a player in a Call of Cthulhu game, I play a female private investigator in the 1920s...which is haaaaard but extremely rewarding as the GM is very good at working in the sexism of the time into the campaign as extra obstacles for me...but I love it. Yeah suuure, maybe the men wont take me seriously...but they always underestimate me...and they never expect me to be packing heat ;)

5: Aaaaaand finally, I am prepping to be a player in a Vampire the Masquerade/Requiem game some time this year. I have been writing lots of short stories to really flesh out the character and flex my writing skills. I will have great fun with her when I get the chance ^^

Phew...I spend faaaaar too much time on this stuff, but no Dresden Files or Fate Core yet...might take a look though...

...

If this results in me becoming addicted to yet another game system, I will hunt you down and make you listen to every single one of my ideas as penance for your transgression -.-'

It's a wig? I just thought that you had dyed your hair.

I like listening to character/story ideas so fire away :)

I'm currently trying to build Dundee (meaning = Fort Fire) as a city for the Dresden files campaign.

Indeed...alas my fiery locks are not natural, I am growing my hair and am on track to have a similar style some time in the future, but as it stands my natural hair only goes to around the nape of my neck, and is a bloody brilliant blonde, so I get aaaaaaall the blonde jokes...especially with my somewhat...eccentric attitude >.>

...

Also I LOVE red hair! ^^

So the wig is really just a visualization aid, something to aim for that makes me feel good atm.

One day I shall acquire such lovely hair of my own! And with it, I shall rule this pathetic world with an iron fist! Wielding a fury unmatched in the realms of mortal man!!!

...

Oh hang on...that's when I build the doomsday device...my bad
