Utah!

Oh, wait. You asked about the best place for trans people, not the most ass-backwards place on the planet. Never mind.

Sounds like you have a personal story to share?  ;)

Actually, I've never been to Utah, but I do read Jezebel. And on most days, there's another story of horrible things coming out of Utah.

I do have a story about being a punk rocker in Mississippi. I'll never go there again, especially not now! Ha!

Jill I'm coming over!!

Go for it!  I'm serious.  You'd probably really appreciate my living room as well.

Mai Tais on the Lanai and pizza from scratch in Studio City, anyone?  There are amazing hiking trails almost in my backyard here as well.

I would say the Netherlands are pretty good.
Dutchies are quite open minded when it comes to gay and transsexual people. Sure, you got anti-lgtb bigots everywhere, but most of them are pretty laid back and accepting. The fact amsterdam is flooded with hundreds of thousands of people during the gay parade is a sign of this.

Also, free health care. I don't have to pay for my transition. And we have two specialized genderteams that offer the full deal. So they include the therapist talks, the endocrinologist and surgeries. All in, and paid for. The downside is that you can't move as fast as when you paid for it yourself. So there's a few months of waiting in between stages.

That's good! I think it's way better to tread slowly.

Also, this should totally be your avatar.

Berlin, Germany is pretty nice for me AS transgirl. It is really easy to get hormones and the legal gender change and almost as all the time I am not interesting enough to take a second look at me. Maybe it helps to have a gay mayor and a female defense minister which is still not so common worldwide.

I think everyone should have one! Very cool.

Northern New Jersey and Manhattan is a good place to be Transgender as the entire state of NJ and NYC have Transgender rights and protection. With a very diverse population people are much more accepting here. Also there are so many resources in the area that cater to the LGBTQ community. Unfortunately it's not a cheap place to live, there are smelly parts in NJ (there are nice areas believe or not) and the winters are not that great. However, there are a lot of opportunities here. Interesting note, that nearly everything transitioning related (HRT, electrolysis, laser) service is cheaper in NYC than it is in NJ.
