I'm pretty surprised there are no topics about this show that I could find on here, but for those who don't know "The Fosters" is about "A multi-ethnic family mix of foster, adopted, and biological kids [that] are being raised by two moms." (description courtesy of IMDB). It's on ABC Family and in the second half of its first season, and I believe it will have a second season.
This half of the season actually features a transman (played by a real-life transman). I have been watching the show and I have to say that I think it is very well done in terms of portraying the subject matter as well as having well written characters and good acting, and I would consider it pretty realistic overall. Of course it does have an element of 'teen drama' but I don't think it's overdone for what the show is. It's good to see a show on TV that is portraying (parts of; not every part of the community is portrayed) the LGBTQ community in a positive but also realistic way in regards to what a lot of people face. Basically I'm saying I like it a lot.
This is my opinion though, obviously. For those who have seen it, what do you think? And if you haven't seen it I would suggest checking it out if it sounds like something you'd be interested in.
