That if you look a certain way beforehand, that determines how HRT will work for you? Basically, if you look feminine beforehand, will HRT make less of a change? If you look masculine beforehand, will it make more of a change? Is there any sort of pattern? I know all about YMMV, but I'm interested if anyone has seen some consistency in terms of this.

I think if that is your real picture in the avatar you will be a model after HRT. :) You have great features to work with. The thing with HRT is nobody really knows how they will turn out. I have seen some not change much, but then a 20 year Navy SEAL ended up totally beautiful much different from the male before pics. It is just really a roll of the dice and there is no accurate way to tell.

It's hard to say, it depends on your hormone levels before HRT and your sensitivity to E/T :)

In the end it is mostly about how masculinized your bone structure (and also skin texture) is though.

The major markers of that are midface length, jaw width, shoulder width, rib cage size, long bone length (like your legs for example).

Like, if you have really short legs for your height, you probably have a not very masculine bone structure. Or if you have a small jaw and dental crowding. Stuff like that is a pretty good sign!

Personally I passed fine before HRT though I looked more cis after it. It still always helps. :)

I truly believe your health reasons for transitioning out weigh  the physical out  come. Unless all your transitioning for is to look like a super model.

Age is the other big factor.  And from your avatar, it looks like you're young enough for HRT to make a real difference.   :)

Thank you so much! That's so sweet of you :) Yes, that is my real picture!

If the video you're talking about is the one I'm thinking of, I saw that just a few days ago and it amazed me. I think she's even on this forum if I'm not mistaken?

Thank you for your answer, I guess it really is all just wondering until actually starting HRT!

I think it differs from person to person. It's sort of hard to predict how it will effect you based on your before pictures; although, if you are more fem beforehand that may play in your favor.  All I can say is that not passing before hrt isn't a bad thing either because it can have a big impact.

I agree, but at the same time appearances do matter for some of us.  Before starting hrt, I was terrified about passing yet I did it anyway because I knew who I am.  However, the ability to pass and go stealth makes life easier which is why that's my ultimate goal.  The more and more I improve thanks to hrt the more confident I feel about living my life as the real me.  So, I get your point, but appearances are not necessarily a trivial point either.

I have many personal reasons for transitioning, and they're more to do with being comfortable and happy in life than just looking good. I'd rather die than not transition, so I'd do it regardless of the outcome. That being said, beauty and glamour has always been a desirable thing to me as well as relationships, and these will likely come into fruition upon transition, so my love for them will be accentuated. Just because I want to be beautiful and model status doesn't make my desire shallow or any less imperative to my life. It just means I'm excited I'll be able to fulfill the things I love with transition. It doesn't mean that's the sole reason why I'm transitioning.

nobody's saying its shallow ,but being realistic what percentage of people who transition look like super models . the overwhelming majority that go from one gender to the next look like normal people. Even in the cis world what percentage of females are super models compared to the population of the planet. I think your health is a far more valid concern.

I don't know if I'll look like a model, I'd just like to be. Whether or not I do does not affect my desire to transition. I based what I said off of Jessica's statement that I'll look like a model. That being said, I am quite young, possibly younger than the majority of people who do start transitioning, so to be counted in the majority of people in terms of who counts as 'model status looks' may not be the most accurate representation.

As for my health; like I said, I'd rather die than not transition, so whatever comes my way...I'll do my best to overcome it. I'll take the potential side effects over not being able to live life how I want to.
