Stephen Colbert took up trans issues in last nights episode, devoting the entire episode and came out quite great. He took us trans women very seriously and showed the ridiculousness of the medias transphobia towards us. He made me actually laugh, he didn't go for the cheap laughs so many comedians and shows use, you know that we're all really dudes? He also seemed genuinely curious and willing to learn about trans issues when he interviewed Janet Mock. She was honestly quite excellent to see and looked really comfortable and more confident talking to him, Honestly I was very pleased and I'm having a good feeling that transgender people are finally beginning to get the recognition we deserve. Plus it says a lot when He and Jon Stewart are the most trusted news sources in this country, where the hell has journalism gone? Yes we could nitpick this episode all day long and then some but the fact that he was very genuine towards us really made me happy.

Thanks Riley,  I needed that  :) :).  With all the negative commentary about Facebook's new gender choices, it was nice to hear Colbert's positive take on the issue.

They are not journalists and they don't purport to be journalists either.  Colbert is a satirist and Stewart is a bloviator.

The Fox News Channel is by far the most-trusted television news source in the country.

It's also the least trusted.

The findings are courtesy of an annual study from Public Policy Polling, which indicated that 34 percent of Americans identify Fox News as the outlet they trust most.

The designation bestowed on Fox News, largely considered a more conservative news source, came despite the fact that 42 percent of those polled were Democrats compared with 33 percent who were Republicans. The remaining 25 percent were "independent/other."

The survey polled 800 registered voters between Jan. 31-Feb. 3. Fifty-one percent of those polled voted for President Barack Obama in the November presidential election and 43 percent voted for Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Skyler (^~^)

I've always liked the Colbert Report! I loved how his humor is a serious but hilarious at the same time. The Anthony wiener news story will always be my favorite because he didn't attack the obvious joke of "Wiener". Glad someone is finally taking us seriously! Does anyone else know any confirmed non-transphobic famous people
We do have a lot in common. The same Earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of always looking at what's different, .... Well, who knows? -Meowth

Heh, Public Radio eXchange was (PRX) was playing Stephen Colbert reading short stories, almost as win as his vocal work in Harvey Birdman.

The man is a comedic genius, and I consider what he does far better at getting the facts out than Fox (which is mostly garbage) or MSNBC (lots of garbage, but I kinda like Morning Joe). Thing is, with humor you can get someone to really remember the story and even the details of the story, while I love NPR, Cspan, and SxM POTUS for keeping me up to date, they are all dry and boring in comparison to Comedy Central.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

Yeah it was great. Always liked his take on issues, cutting edge satire that unearths sacred cows...

Next time though I'd like to see him (or anyone) have a trans* guest talking about stuff that wasn't trans* related/themed at all. Like if I went on (as if) it would be to talk about my webcomic (which isn't trans* themed)... or whatever.

Eventually. We need to make our trans experiences heard first though to get to that point. And its-a-coming!

Each "extreme" seems to be polarizing, whether were talking about Fox viewers or those who appreciate the wit and satire shown by the Colbert/Stewart duo
