Lightening lips?

One of my biggest problems passing (or at least, I feel like it is) is my lips. I have really thick lips as it is, and then they're DARK. I used to have people ask my mother why she was letting her child wear lipstick so young. Cis males have naturally lighter lips, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any techniques to lighten the color of your lips permanently?

The only one I can think of that would be permanent is tattooing. I imagine testosterone might help eventually...a more temporary fix would be regularly exfoliating to lighten them, and I've seen buff/neutral shades of lip balm...

You could maybe try putting a little concealer on your lips to lighten them, but you'd have to be careful to reapply it often as it will go scummy.

I suggest asking the women in the MTF section.  Those ladies are pros at makeup and shading and stuff.  I bet someone has a trick there.
Top Surgery: 10/10/13 (Garramone)
Testosterone: 9/9/14
Hysto: 10/1/15
Stage 1 Meta: 3/2/16 (including UL, Vaginectomy, Scrotoplasty), (Crane, CA)
Stage 2 Meta: 11/11/16 Testicular implants, phallus and scrotum repositioning, v-nectomy revision.  Additional: Lipo on sides of chest. (Crane, TX)
Fistula Repair 12/21/17 (UPenn Hospital,unsuccessful)
Fistula Repair 6/7/18 (Nikolavsky, successful)
Revision: 1/11/19 Replacement of eroded testicle,  mons resection, cosmetic work on scrotum (Crane, TX)

I'm really hoping for something more permanent. I have a terrible habit of chewing at my lips so concealer only ends up making my lips look chapped after a while. I'm trying to do some research but only getting info on how to make your lips look "rosier"... not what I'm going for, lol.

Thanks guys! I'll update if I find any info.

If you can, asking a dermatologist would probably be the best bet. As far as DIY goes, supposedly applying lemon juice mixed with honey and leaving it on for 10 minutes lightens lip color over time/multiple applications.

If it's any consolation, while searching around on this I also found this is a thing for some (assuming from context) cis guys too, up to the point of girls asking them if they're wearing lipstick because of naturally dark red lips.

That does make me feel better actually, LOL. Not like anyone says anything about it now, but if they do I can just say I'm a naturally beautiful man. ;) Thank you!!

I've also heard that rubbing your lips with whitening tooth paste will lighten them over time. I think I read it somewhere on this forum, actually...

I never thought about this before. I don't know if my lips are dark or not, but they are large. I used to play the trumpet, and they were super huge then. I get a lot of compliments from guys about my lips. If you like guys, your prominent lips might be a bonus if you could get used to them.

I chew on my lips a lot too, and I feel you on the staining issue. Even if you don't bite enough to scab, the loose skin seems to pick up coffee and whatnot. I dunno.

A trick I was taught that is supposed to help with acne or rosacea or other reddening stuff on facial skin was putting allergy eyedrops on inflamed patches. That might could help with your lips, but it seems like such different types of skin that it might be useless.

Good luck. :)

If you are not opposed to wearing makeup, there is this stuff called lip tar made by Obsessive Compulsive cosmetics.  It's kind of like lipstick, but not really.  It's more of a stain. It doesn't come off even if you mess with your lips a lot.

(My girlfriend wears it, not me, I swear!  ;D)

Glad it helps. Knowing some cis guys also have [whatever physical attribute] usually helps me, and it happens to apply to virtually everything. For example, while I wait for top surgery it helps to know there are cis dudes out there with severe gynecomastia (seriously, some cis men end up getting mastectomies too). Regarding lower issues, there's hypospadias and microphallus. There are really short/slim cis men, or ones with high voices, etc.

LOL my boyfriend does really like my lips, actually... I've learned to not hate the size of my lips so much. Just the color. :P
