How much would SRS cost without Insurance coverage in U.S.?

Like the title says, how much would SRS cost without Insurance coverage in U.S.A.?  I am thinking of going to Toby Meltzer.

In all honesty,  insurance coverage is moot. My policy covers "non-surgical interventions and treatments" and that in itself seems to be rare. If you do have insurance, expect for anything related to SRS or Gender Identity Disorder or similar items to be specifically not covered.

So far in my research, the cheapest I have found is $19.5K...

When I was looking at surgeons in 2011 (had GRS in 2012), the cheapest was McGinn at $18,500 and I think Meltzer was the most expensive at about $25K (?). So that's probably still roughly the range, although I'm sure McGinn and everyone else have raised their prices a touch since then.

Most surgeons do have web sites these days, and some even list prices.

(I ended up going with Brassard, who was $18K Canadian [that ended up being around $19K US with the exchange rate]. I know for sure that he raised his rates, though.)

I spent right about $25K with McGinn last year (2013). That included everything. Food, hotels, rental car, airplane tickets et al.

Meltzer is more expensive, so I'd say $30-35K for everything (food, hotel, airfare) is a reasonable estimate.

JennX : Yeah, that's a very good point. I was talking about the surgeon's list price, not the overall cost.

(I believe Brassard was about $20K for us, but everything was all-inclusive except a place for my wife to stay and travel [and we went by car].)

Brassard i think is around 19,350.oo canada. With todays exchange rate that would be 17,406.oo US dollars. That would save almost 2 grand. Exchange rate is starting to get back in the US favor.

Anyway you go to who you feel is the one. You in the end have to be happy with your choice.

$23,350 U.S. was what Dr. Bowers. the hospital and anesthesiologist ran me in early 2013.  Add in another thousand for a hotel if you have caregivers with you, and then your travel money to San Francisco Intl. Airport and some taxi money.  San Mateo and San Francisco will take any amount of tourist money with a big smile.

Isabell : Jeez, it figures I went during the brief period when the exchange rate made CA prices much *worse.*   Ah, well, I'm still glad to have it done already.

Toby meltzer  will be doing my Vaginoplasty  in a few days  and i paid 24K  , then i will be going back for Labiaplasty some few months after  and that will be $5,500 .

I feel totally confident in my surgeons choice!

From my research there seem to be plenty of insurance plans that cover SRS. I could easily list a handful. With the ACA no insurance provider can deny your application for any pre existing condition - accordingly you can call around to any and every insurance provider in the US, ask member services if they cover SRS or see if it's (hopefully not) on their exclusion list, and sign up. It then becomes an issue of how much coverage your specific plan covers for surgical procedures/In-patient stays.
